If ambient tracks were salads, then most would be best described as caprese: a slice of some mozzarella, a slice of tomato, stick a basil leaf on top, and drizzle it with balsamic vinegar. Done! Enjoy! In other words, “ambient” salads are typically constructed with just a couple of carefully chosen and carefully mixed ingredients. Sometimes, ingredients are of good quality and the track shines and sometimes not so much. It’s a real treat, then, when an ambient chef presents us with a little more than a caprese. 

Uanamani clearly earns a Michelin star when it comes to salads: Sexto Sentido is a musical version of something like a Mexican salad: countless ingredients, bursting with colors, shapes and flavors, skillfully mixed. Add some playful corn melodies, add black beans for something rhythmic, throw some cilantro to add freshness, some peppers for spice. You could hear all that and more in 5 minutes during the track and it’s a real treat for the senses. Sexto Sentido and the rest of the Forbidden Islands EP is out on February 21st.

Boris (formerly known as Scott Franka) is a skilled DJ, producer, and live performer in addition to being a stand-out videographer and audio-visual artist. You can regularly find him next door to the ZeeZout office jamming away relentlessly in his studio with Robbert (aka soundcloud.com/kaapofficial) on their impressive arsenal of analog gear, synths, and drumcomputers perfecting their dynamic live act duo known as soundcloud.com/workingtitlesxx. This too is where a good portion of these tracks transcending ambient, house, and techno were conceived with a few coming from their Amsterdam music collective soundcloud.com/delichting. Dive in!

De Lichting is a phenomenal project by three crews from Amsterdam: Native Response, Working Titles and Yield. We fell in love with their work after their debut release, a double LP named Één.
Last week De Lichting released their second LP, Twee and in the light of that release, we are delighted to present you a mix the guys made for us for our Delayed with... series. The master behind the mix is super talented RDS (https://soundcloud.com/0rds0) and the mix was made exclusively from tracks by De Lichting crew. A true master piece.

Both inspired by electronic music since the end of the '90s, they founded the <a target="_blank" class="hyperlink" title="natural/electronic.system.'s Facebook page" href="http://www.facebook.com/naturalelectronicsystem">n/e.s.</a> project in 2004 so as to express their personal definition of music. Navigating through various styles, their DJ sets subtly combine a wide range of organic sounds. From 2000, they started performing in Italian clubs and Mount Vesuvius forests. After participating in the 2009 edition of the <a target="_blank" class="hyperlink" title="The Labyrinth website" href="http://www.mindgames.jp/">Labyrinth festival</a>, <a target="_blank" class="hyperlink" title="natural/electronic.system.'s Facebook page"href="http://www.facebook.com/naturalelectronicsystem">n/e.s.</a> started to export their distinctive sound outside Italy, playing in many parties, clubs and festivals around the world.
