The project is an ambient performance based on modular synthesizers and rhythmic foundations created with an MPC. The origin of the project came from the exploration and listening to sounds throughout the winter of 2023-2024 in his studio in Malta.

The idea was to use the studio’s machines, keyboards, and modular systems, listening to random sounds coming directly from them. The sounds that resonated with us the most were selected to shape what would become the final live performance.

Recorded live at Perpendicular 2024 (@espacio-perpendicular) - somewhere in the woods. When? Sunday 10:30 Where? main stage.

Perpendicular is a self managed and private festival held somewhere in the woods of central Spain.

Thursdays are for throwbacks, right? So, we have an extra memorable trip down memory lane to share. It was a gloomy yet oddly comforting Sunday afternoon, tucked away from the city's chaos deep within the Catskills Mountains. We were all sprawled out in a cozy, high-ceilinged room that was booming just hours ago, transformed from a dancefloor to a haven of post-party relaxation. Our good friend Joan Gila, who was visiting from Tarragona, Spain, was at the helm of the music that day. Joan - the mastermind behind HOC Radio and Red Edge record label, co-founder of Hiru events, a resident of MostRadio, a passionate music lover, record collector, and all-around incredible human took us on a musical odyssey we can't wait to share. 

Forget background music. This is a journey that demands your full attention. Layers of intricate details intertwine through the mix, adding depth and revealing hidden gems with each new listen. It is an avant-garde experience that blends ambient, experimental, techno, halftime, and beyond.

"About our live hybrid set
We conceived our performance with storytelling practices in mind, starting with the idea of creating an atmosphere from which we developed our musical narration. You can hear this aspect at the beginning of our hybrid set, where the combination of ambient/dub sounds and field recordings aims to create an introductory and more neutral soundscape. After this kind of incubating phase, we embarked on our musical journey, merging more dramatic vibes with warm, meditative sounds. From there, we gradually introduced rhythmic patterns, with some tribalistic touches, to increase the energy and reach the climax in the final phase, culminating in a special drone dedication to Laurie Anderson.

It felt really being like home playing at Temple #8 (@espacio-perpendicular), such a warm atmosphere and lovely people! The feeling of appreciation and involvement left us with some amazing memories!"

“...Divine Ritual is an transdisciplinary project that moves between the dimensions of performance art and live creation. The experimental landscape is primarily constituted by the relationship between performers and spectators, within a creative path aimed at generating a ritual. The spectator, with their presence, will be a founding part of the creative design of the ritual itself. The ritual, which draws on the essential elements of Greek mythology, particularly the myth of Persephone and the Eleusinian Mysteries, is the archetypal experience in which sound and body are fused together, energy and matter converge in a single language, and full immersion between the terrestrial world and the cosmos is achieved. In an experimental process, the manipulation of electronic music sound will rhythmically punctuate the various moments, reaching a peak of tension and sonic pressure, determining the foundations of the ritual action, serving as a moment of ablution and then of expressive effusion for the performers, exploring the possibility of alerting the body enveloped in an uninterrupted sonic envelope and exposed to a collective vibration in which it is impossible to perceive a separation between performers and spectators.
