Altering our consciousness for the first time in 2023 with a particularly awe inspiring set at Sustain-Release, Aaron's deeply considered and intricate approach is something of sheer beauty, and coupled with masterful technical ability, his inspiring DJ sets allow for fully immersive dancefloor experiences. 

Here Aaron explores the softer edges of his expansive sound palette, meditative soundscapes and tranquil IDM converging in total harmony for what he describes as a 'recalibration of the senses'.

Q. What sounds or feelings did you draw upon when gathering inspiration for this mix, and what listening environments could you imagine it being best enjoyed in?

A. Of all the mixes I’ve put together over the years, this one definitely feels the most vulnerable. The months I spent thinking about and working on this mix accompanied an intensely busy time in my life, and the process helped me stay in touch with the simple joy of listening as a way of stepping back and letting things go. There is a direct connection here between the music within and the emotions that live inside me. At the same time, I’ve tried my best to mix this as transparently as possible, so that the act of DJing takes a back seat and allows the music to take center stage.

The inspiration behind the tracks I chose and the story of the mix is one of finding balance, so I hope listening to it feels like a casting off of the present day and a recalibration of the senses. I’d love for people to listen to the mix in a setting where they feel most protected from the changes and stressors of the outside world, whether that be sitting outside in nature or laying on a couch surrounded by the comforts of home.

Q. Are there any songs in the mix that you were especially excited to share, and what is it about these tracks that resonate with you so much?

A. There is a track in the mix by Autumn of Communion called “Goodbye PK” dedicated to the late Peter Kuhlmann, who many of your listeners will know as the legendary Pete Namlook of FAX +49-69/450464. It’s an immensely moving track that manages to convey both the tragedy of his loss and the depth of the beauty he left with the world, and I feel we’re so fortunate to have music and influences like this in our recent history. I included it early to set the tone of the rest of the mix, which is quite different than any I’ve done before, and to pay my respects to those who’ve inspired our scene from the very beginning.

Q. I was lucky enough to witness your set at Sustain-Release in 2023 and was in awe of your ability to practice restraint while steadily building up tension and energy in the set with such clinical and seamless execution. Is this part of the DJ craft something you spend a lot of time planning and refining?

A. That was such a life-changing moment for me, so I’m really glad you were there! You really nailed what I hoped to accomplish with that set, and I definitely spend a lot of time thinking about where my sets will begin, where I would like them to end up, and what sort of path I might take to get there. Understanding the minutiae of how a transition will affect someone’s state of mind and how to propel someone forward without jarring them back to reality is something I’m always working to improve on. That said, the upward trajectory is not always the most interesting one, and there are so many other ways of charting a course through a set that I hope to be able to explore. For the mix I’ve made for you, it’s not so much a set that builds energy as it is one that expands and contracts, hopefully in a gentle and purposeful way.

She is also a label founder and has signed her music to excellent labels such as Siamese Twins Records, Diffuse Reality, Melifera, Huinali, Oslated, Companion, Jin Records and MISBHV. ...This artist sees art as a committed means of placing herself at the heart of living issues and questions about the relationship between humans and natural environments. Sonically, her touch is directly identifiable by her taste for detail and a unique approach to storytelling, as well as her use of complex rhythms. This mix, which could be described as chlorophilic and ritualistic, is an ode to the living and a breath of fresh air in these times when the world is on fire, so enjoy your listening and see you soon!

Accents Podcast Series #034 - VICE CITY

When we first covered Les Chaos Ambiants, it was clear they weren’t aiming for the usual festival formula. Instead of big stages and brand sponsorships, they’re focused on how electronic music and art can interact with local identity and environmental urgency. For 2025, the festival returns to Sommant, right in the Morvan Regional Natural Park, continuing to build on this concept. There’s still just one stage, no clashes, no sprinting between acts, but now there’s added weight on multidisciplinary art, from Adrien Lamm’s sculptural installations by the lake to workshops exploring endangered species through sound and visual design.

The lineup remains eclectic but united by atmosphere, curated once again by Alfonso Pomeda, who’s also the artistic mind behind Barcelona’s Mostra Festival. The full lineup for 2025 includes ABSIS, Alcachofa, Avsluta, Faery, Fran Campos, Lynne , Merovee, Metshka Pampo, Myles Dillon, Nems-B, Orsu, Owl, Toé, and Sybil. Les Chaos Ambiants seems designed for people who treat listening as an experience in itself, a festival where silence and subtlety can carry as much weight as rhythm or volume. Which brings us naturally to one of this year’s standout additions.

Let’s be honest: some artists play music; others change the room around you. Owl belongs firmly in the second camp. Just a few weeks ago, he opened the infamous “La Cabaña”, the ambient and experimental temple at Perpendicular Festival, with a set steeped entirely in lush, enveloping ambient. It was a lesson in subtle power, transforming a cavernous space into something intimate and weightless. It wasn’t flashy, but it left everyone exhaling like they’d just remembered how to breathe. The Observatory - Camu @ Lucid Dreams, 2025

Mostra and Deep Breakfast Series are collaborating for a second year to bring you home some of the sounds that echoed through the festival’s unique spaces. Mostra is an intimate, independent festival dedicated to forward-thinking and experimental electronic music, taking place over four days in Barcelona.

Among the featured performances was nigul, the ambient drone project of Jaume Muntsant (also known as Droneghost). Active since 2004, nigul explores themes of darkness and fear through dense sonic textures, field recordings, and evolving soundscapes. His hybrid set unfolded on the second day of performances at Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació.

As we slowly ease out of the warmer summer days, we are delighted to welcome Noah Lyas to the Embodiment podcast series. With more than 15 years of experience in making music and as co-founder of Profundo Collective, he has carved out a space for deep, hypnotic explorations that move masterfully between nuance and vigor.

Noah Lyas reflects on the recording process with striking authenticity:

“During the summer, it gets so hot in my attic studio that making music is almost impossible. Even in the evening, with the windows open, it’s hard to stay focused and attentive while composing; only warm, heavy ambient pads come into being, with crickets providing the rhythm.

This mix was recorded just after all those hot days, when the temperature was finally low enough to dance in the attic again, and to feel what it’s like to be active. It begins calmly, flowing slowly, until the first low notes become possible after which it spills over into rhythmic steps. Just like the transition from those sweltering summer evenings to the creation of this set.”

A fluid journey that rises gently from ambient depth to grounded rhythmic flow, echoing the passage from heat-induced stillness into motion, presence, and dance.

We are very happy to present you with the 56th chapter in our Podcast Series today, a powerful deep listening mix recorded live at Perpendicular 2025 by our dear friend ~ Horizontal. Setting the scene, imagine yourself laying down comfortably in a wooden cabin deep in the woods at night time, in profound communion with your fellow listeners and letting the sounds collective carry you inwards 🌚✨
 
I first met Paul two years ago playing at one of my favourite ambient rooms at a small gathering in Scotland, then again last year at Backsteinboot in Berlin where we both played as part of an all night sleepover ambient event Rausch. Both times, I was mesmerised by the composure and depth of Paul’s music and demeanour, two qualities that truly shine through in this sublime mix probing the realms of drone ambient, minimalism, avant-garde and electro-acoustic composition 💫

This hour and a half of slithering drones, liquefied glitches, deep nocturnal soundscapes and ritual sonics is occasionally punctuated by narration. It ebbs and flows between barely audible and fiercely present as it deliberately stretches the scope of listening with its passage. The further in you listen, the deeper in you go 🔮

Podcast Series 56 | Horizontal @ Perpendicular 25

Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

We all have core memories of special dancefloor moments. Audience fully hypnotised, beating as one, lost in the music. Pure instinct, and the wildest spirit within each one shining through. Some artists have an uncanny ability to channel that. And today we present 2 masters at making those moments happen, via Perpendicular Festival 2025. Part of the Ouroboros takeover on Friday night, their performance at the event was one for the books. 

Toé, one of the minds behind EWO collectif and the Ouroboros project, has been mesmerising audiences with some stellar performances. A testament to it was her set just a couple days ago on her home turf, when we witnessed her sorcery at the peak of it's powers. With music that taps into the most feral and primal, it's hard to explain the purity of the feelings she conveys with her mixes. One thing is for sure, Toé has an ability to get your inner animal manifest on the dancefloor. 

Vardae needs no introduction at this point. His releases on Samurai Music or Non Series have established him in that "timeless" space of music creators. One to blame for the expansion on half time and dnb sounds into new psychedelic territory. Vardae is at the very front of a movement that unites breaks, tribe, trancey sounds and techno energy into a new irresistible ritual. His live performance gets better every time, and he turned Ouroboros upside down a couple of days ago. 

Together, you can only imagine what these magicians summon with their sonic potions. And Perpendicular was the cauldron in which their perfect mix took shape. Impossible drum patterns, enchanting atmospheres and their particular flare for transcendental sounds. Combined, these two take their wizardry to the highest levels. 

We couldn't be happier to host these two beloved artists, friends and amazing creatives. Inspiring humans that we always wanted to have in our channel. Infinite gratitude to Melu, Cedric, and the Perpen team for letting us host this piece of musical history. This is HUGE.

The Continuum: Toé & Vardae - Perpendicular 2025

Perpendicular Festival unravels as one continuous thread, bending and reforming across days and nights until the sense of time itself begins to dissolve. From Friday afternoon to the first pale hints of Monday light, the forest carries a constant flux of sound, shifting from floor-focused intensity to moments of near-weightless suspension. The turning point comes when the moon hovers over the DJ booth on the main stage and the current draws inward: La Cabaña, a wooden cabin hidden among the pines, becomes the gathering place for music at its most unguarded and exploratory. Here, reality softens, and performances take the shape of dreams.

It was in these hours between Friday and Saturday that STBL opened the portal. His set arrived quietly, almost imperceptibly, whispers in the air, static drifting like dust in moonlight. Slowly, harmonies began to shimmer and unfold, shadowed by pads that seemed to stretch toward some unreachable horizon. Beneath it all, a subtle rumble grew, reassuring, like company long imagined finally appearing at your side. Nothing felt rushed; each sound seemed to wait for the moment it was meant to reveal itself.  

The power of the set lies in its restraint, in the way it suspended time and quietly rewrote it in the minds of those present. A moment like this resists fading; it lingers, carried forward as a story that will be told again and again.

Delayed x Perpendicular: STBL (live)

The fire at the center of the floor was more signal than warmth against the countryside chill. Sparks shot upward into the night as dancers circled around, bodies locked into the pulse spilling from the booth. Above Below Festival thrives on these elemental juxtapositions: a rural valley transformed into a site of intensity, a cocoon-like booth channeling waves of sound that felt larger than the space itself. With every kick drum, the edges of the night blurred, and for hours the crowd existed in a suspended orbit around light, heat, and rhythm.

It was here that Timesplitters, Jake and Pat, took hold. Their set drove forward on cavernous bass, but the force alone wasn’t what bound the floor; it was the shifting mid-range voices, synth lines and melodic sequences mutating like smoke from the fire, wrapping dancers in a narrative of tension and release. They approached the set less as selectors and more as authors, tracing the night with a balance of discipline and wildness. Despite their name, there was no split in time, only the sense of one continuous current, shared in firelight, smiles, and unbroken motion.

Delayed x Above Below: Timesplitters

Kyoto-based DJ and producer Yuddy Ash has been steadily finding his voice over the past few years. Following a series of online appearances and a collaboration with silkscreen. on GIFKIKKER, he now joins the Delayed with series with a mix that favors movement through restraint, using rhythm as a thread rather than a tool of impact.

Across sixty-one minutes, it unfolds with a steady pulse, subtle shifts, and a lightness in tone. It’s a late-night listen that moves from deep low-end flow to airy percussion. The transitions are soft, almost invisible, yet the direction remains clear, a quiet reminder that less can still move plenty.

Every year, Alfonso, the artistic director of Mostra, hides a few cards up his sleeve, and this time one of them was DjSport. Closing the Friday program at Fabra i Coats is never random, it’s a statement, and by the time her halftime pulse began rolling through the space, we all knew why she was there. The groove was elastic, full of tension that never broke until she decided it should. Then came the shift: precision turning into pressure, tempo climbing until Fabra felt like a steam room. Just when it seemed ready to tip into chaos, she had her “hold my beer” moment, controlled detonation, a sudden swerve into broken, bass-heavy terrain that felt like opening a window mid-storm. From there on, it was cruise control, the kind that hums with energy yet never loses composure.

Mauritius-born and now based in Barcelona, DjSport carries that balance of warmth and unpredictability wherever she plays. Her debut at Mostra was the kind that makes you trust Alfonso’s instincts even more, those mysterious names on the poster that end up defining the memory.

Delayed x Mostra: DjSport

The idea of the breakbeat was born in the Bronx, but its evolution since then has been a transatlantic dialogue, a rhythmic exchange between continents that never really settled. In London, this language found its most elastic form, bending through jungle, drum & bass, and techno, mutating with each new generation of producers. The city remains a living organism, constantly reshaping itself through DJs, club nights, and collectives that resist repetition. Unknown Species, a London-based platform and event series that blends music and environmental awareness in support of endangered species, has carved out a corner for artists to explore that freedom. Its founder, Rado, better known as Naturalisten, is the musical mind behind this week’s edition of Delayed with.

This mix was recorded almost a year ago at Espacio Perpendicular in Madrid, during the first collaborative event between Unknown Species and the Perpen crew, alongside Delayed friends F-on, Fran Campos, Lynne, DB1, Felix K, Muted, Vrika, and Pillen. It’s a space where rhythm meets reflection, and Naturalisten rises fully to the occasion. The first half builds tension through shifting grooves and subtle rhythmic displacements, a controlled energy that feels alive and restless.

As the set unfolds, the edges blur. Synths stretch into stranger territories, textures become unmoored, and the intensity softens into something beautifully off-kilter, a reminder that unpredictability can be its own kind of balance. Naturalisten lets the music speak, and it speaks fluently, with groove, curiosity, and a quiet sense of purpose.
