We are very happy to present you with the 56th chapter in our Podcast Series today, a powerful deep listening mix recorded live at Perpendicular 2025 by our dear friend ~ Horizontal. Setting the scene, imagine yourself laying down comfortably in a wooden cabin deep in the woods at night time, in profound communion with your fellow listeners and letting the sounds collective carry you inwards 🌚✨
 
I first met Paul two years ago playing at one of my favourite ambient rooms at a small gathering in Scotland, then again last year at Backsteinboot in Berlin where we both played as part of an all night sleepover ambient event Rausch. Both times, I was mesmerised by the composure and depth of Paul’s music and demeanour, two qualities that truly shine through in this sublime mix probing the realms of drone ambient, minimalism, avant-garde and electro-acoustic composition 💫

This hour and a half of slithering drones, liquefied glitches, deep nocturnal soundscapes and ritual sonics is occasionally punctuated by narration. It ebbs and flows between barely audible and fiercely present as it deliberately stretches the scope of listening with its passage. The further in you listen, the deeper in you go 🔮

Live vinyl/digital mix recording of an intimate musicnerd gathering from last summer somewhere in Avila. Reached that improvisational free flow state I love and does not always happen, so sharing the recording that the crew shared to us (legends!!)

Been working going deep into this impro approach now with both analog/digital for the last year and a half, a lot of organisation required but love not knowing exactly where I'm heading, even if the result is not as clinical. Its a mess getting the tracklist sorted out with records, if you curious about any track comment here, happy to share!

Big ups JR crew for the invitation, did not really know where I was going and I must say it felt really special place to express freely; listened to such unique sets in there. Thank you!!

A leading figure in Taiwan’s underground techno scene for over a decade, described by Resident Advisor as one of the world’s greatest techno DJs. This mix was recorded live at Tresor Klubnacht this August, his weightless form of techno glows with a natural energy, moving with aerodynamic precision.

@Diskonnected is the creative mastermind, and the principal DJ of the well-known Smoke Machine collective. Formerly a resident at Taipei’s legendary Korner, he now holds residencies at its successor Pawnshop, and at Hong Kong’s renowned 宀 Mihn.

Throughout his decade-long career, Diskonnected has been the foundational person developing, shaping, and sculpting the Smoke Machine sound and is the musical nucleus of Taiwan’s Organik Festival, one of the world’s most respected techno gatherings. A musical chameleon, he adapts his sound to each environment, generating boundless energy on the dance floor, he has toured widely across Asia, Europe, and the USA, and has played has played at prestigious clubs such as Berghain, Tresor and Nowadays.

In the space where sound is stripped to its essential form, new worlds emerge. For our latest podcast, we welcome Hitam, an artist who operates as a true sonic architect, sculpting sound from its most granular elements. His work masterfully bridges the worlds of deep techno and avant-garde experimentalism, finding profound power not in overwhelming force, but in restrained intensity. The Amsterdam based producer’s ultra finessed sounds have been released on the likes of Hayes, Somov, SYXT as well a string of exceptional recent releases on his own Rhiza Semar label. As a DJ he serves as a resident at the infamous Eerste Communie parties, as well as playing legendary institutions like Tresor, Bassiani, De School and more. 

“For this mix I wanted to trace a descent through shifting temporal layers; beginning in a state of suspension, slowly moving into trance-inducing motion before dissolving again into the subterranean. It travels from fluid, hypnotic rhythm into zones of disorientation and release; a process of acceleration, collapse, and renewal. Recorded as a continuous narrative rather than a set, it mirrors my current pull toward a landscape where ancient ritual and submerged hypnosis blend into an organic accelerated pulse where momentum and meditation intertwine beneath the surface.”

Forget relentless peaks, this is techno that demands deep immersion, challenging yet deeply rewarding, a deep trip of tension and release on a microscopic level. A tale of masterfully executed cerebral hypnosis, told across two chapters of disintegration through terrains that feel simultaneously ancient and futuristic. A dialogue between soil and circuitry, pulse and void.

Every year, Alfonso, the artistic director of Mostra, hides a few cards up his sleeve, and this time one of them was DjSport. Closing the Friday program at Fabra i Coats is never random, it’s a statement, and by the time her halftime pulse began rolling through the space, we all knew why she was there. The groove was elastic, full of tension that never broke until she decided it should. Then came the shift: precision turning into pressure, tempo climbing until Fabra felt like a steam room. Just when it seemed ready to tip into chaos, she had her “hold my beer” moment, controlled detonation, a sudden swerve into broken, bass-heavy terrain that felt like opening a window mid-storm. From there on, it was cruise control, the kind that hums with energy yet never loses composure.

Mauritius-born and now based in Barcelona, DjSport carries that balance of warmth and unpredictability wherever she plays. Her debut at Mostra was the kind that makes you trust Alfonso’s instincts even more, those mysterious names on the poster that end up defining the memory.

Electronic musician and guitarist, Sun Dawei is a very active composer in China. He started learning guitar at the age of fourteen, and later formed a punk band, which became the catalyst for him to open the door to music. Settled in Beijing in 1999, then began research and creation of electronic music, and at the same time began to dabble in Fashion Show, film, drama and commercial soundtrack work. After several transformations, in order to explore different music spaces. He announced a new musician project - CTAFAD.
In 2020, "Vertical Horizontal" was published on "Shanshui Music". In this album, you can hear "the original sound without too much modification, the sense of space like the atmosphere, and the ambitious ultrasonic experiment. In the end, an epic The core sound field has been carefully polished. The rhythm and bass line are proficient in interaction from the beginning, gradually unfolding and never extinguishing." In the subsequent release of "Vertical Horizontal Extended" and other EP albums, CTAFAD invited Claudio PRC, Blazej Malinowski, Atomic Moog, Polygonia, Laertes and IORI participated in the remix of the album.
A new music-making journey is driven by inner passion and exploration, collaboration and development. Slowly began to emerge in many foreign Techno labels. Such as: Sungate, Indefinite Pitch, Oslated, Secuencias Temporales和Melifera. At the same time, he also created a new music label "GSXS" - mind in thought, full vision.

Some collaborations feel orchestrated. This one felt inevitable. Reeko and Mostra share a certain DNA - innovative, uncompromising, with an appetite for risk. One’s a festival, the other a force of nature, but both operate outside the usual margins. So when Reeko stepped into the cavernous Pavelló Olímpic on the final day of Mostra 2025, the match didn’t need explaining. After three days of sonic overstimulation, the crowd could’ve easily slipped into post-peak autopilot. Instead, something sparked.

Reeko played with the confidence of someone who doesn’t need to raise his voice to be heard. He didn’t grab attention, instead he tuned the room to his frequency. No spectacle, just sustained pressure. The kind that doesn’t shout, but hums somewhere in your bones. From the first mix, he had total control, not just over tempo, but over tension, perception, direction. It wasn’t peak-time euphoria. It was something colder, sharper, more elemental.

What happened on that floor wasn’t mystical, and it wasn’t romantic. It was human circuitry, bodies moving like they’d been rewired. A dance floor fully switched on. In a festival stacked with standout sets, this one kept floating to the surface in post-Mostra conversations. We’re proud to share this recording. It was special. Now it’s permanent.
