Like a musical evolutionary tale unfolding before your eyes and ears, so too does Lost In Translation’s debut release titled Anthroposcene morph and twist, with each artist’s contribution drawing inspiration from, and manipulating elements of the prior. Or as the label puts, “The album was built track by track, providing a space for the featured artists to bounce off of each other’s sonic influences, and weave together a cohesive musical story told from studios around the world.

Leading off the release, the proverbial seeds if you will of the album, are Saphileaum’s airy musings, like a morning mist upon a forest lake, the air alive with flashes of life. Each flash solidifying into an outline of the groove filled Moon Patrol offering, giving a steady rhythmic heartbeat with each hit of the kick. Building on and accentuating the accompanying pads and melody brings us to Alfred Czital’s second scene of our first act, switching up things slightly by heading more into the breaks realm.

As the curtain falls on Czital, we come to our premiere for today and the second act of Anthroposcene, provided by Human Space Machine. Rising melodies start the show, as driving percussion accompanies after a brief pause at the start. Layering and layering as more time goes on, the pads building to a sense of purpose, and tension without being overt.

Anthroposcene in its entirety will be out on December 6th, with additional fantastic contributions by Owl, Orca Silent, and Martinou rounding out the stacked release.

Having turned out two hazy, driving EPs of muffled techno for Lobster Theremin sub-label Mörk, nthng arrives on Pacific Command for a rare two track exploration of gritty Dutch rave and rolling trance-y techno. 

Are You Here takes an up-tempo booted-bucket drum shuffle and steadily filters it's way into a skittering hat furore, all coated with epic pads and a demi-hoover rave stab. Full fire-alarm business. 

On the flip nthng takes serious influence from early trance and techno with the warehouse-crushing In The Afterglow. Constructed on the back of an early 90's hard house-esque alien synth patterns and rolling wildly into the deepest depths of the forest rave, until the long-awaited sunlight pads come bursting through the leaves.

For their second release,label "Let’s Go Swimming" signed Doppelate. Hailing from south London, he brings us a stripped back, four track house record which strikes a beautiful balance between gentle melancholia and blissed-out dance ﬂoor moments !  "Soaked In Honey" here  opens the EP with a sampled conversation between two friends (quoted above). Subterranean keys and a prominent bassline drive this poignant, and yet carefree, sunset club track. Release date : 9th September !

Loure is 22 year old, Melbourne based producer Thomas Guida. Deriving influence from a vast range of musical outfits, he delivers a refreshing take on his interpretation of Deep House. With the qualities of heavy flowing beats accompanied by smooth melodies and intricate brass, Loure takes inspiration from the forever progressive Melbourne music scene, delivering a unique mix of remarkably original and touching music. "Westside Movements" was written, produced and recorded on the inner skirts of Melbourne’s western suburbs. Gaining heavy influence from ongoing cultural movements currently gracing the streets of Footscray, the surrounding abandoned warehouses and the banks of the Maribyrnong River, this record is an Ode to the West and the joy, unity, and enlightenment it has and continues to provide to myself and all of those who choose to embrace its hidden beauties. Here is A2 "Keep it real" a wonderful deep-house cut for those lazy afternoons on the Atlantic shores, enjoy & breathe !

The harbinger of quality perhaps, or simply that of a flash of brilliance, gone quicker than the blink of an eye. New can be used for many things, however, today’s focus of an oft favorite adjective falls on the shoulders of Melbourne based DJ, and producer, Kia, her label, and a cadre of fellow artists. 

Animalia as a label is new in every sense of the word, and in every sense, the best possible. Much like her mixes, Kia has curated an intricate selection from the thriving Melbourne scene that ticks every box for a burgeoning label. A proverbial shot across the musical bow if you will.

Our shot for today comes in the form of Dashiell & Sam Brickel and ‘Run Out Groove’. Nestled nicely among the other breakish tunes of Animalia 001, ‘Run Out Groove’ provides just as the name implies. Grooves with undulating synths and flashy acid highlights, persisting throughout to provide a top tier atmosphere. We’ll be watching, with ears wide open here at Delayed for what new things come out of Animalia, and we hope you do as well.
