On Board Music kicks off 2021 with Point C, the third in a series of Various Artist 12-inches. It continues the label's exploration of the heady atmospheres between techno, dub, and ambient, where the boundaries between the dancefloor and headphone introspection are blurred. The five-tracker 'Point C' sees the return of Hiver, Sylve, and Hironori Takahashi to the label and debuts of Foreign Material and Alan Backdrop. 

Sylve's "Cloudless Raindrops" is a dreamy, feel-good House track that comes out at the perfect time with first spring blooms. Its four to the floor groove layered with shakers and raindrop field recordings set an ideal foundation for hazy pads that move like ebb and flow, allowing filtered piano and arpeggiated wooden perc to shine through like first sun rays after Spring showers. 

Point C is coming out on March 22 via On Board Music.

PREMIERE: Sylve - Cloudless Raindrops [On Board Music]

My next release comes with a bit of history. It was in 2016, when younger me was deeply inspired by the music Permanent Vacarion was putting out on their label. My friends and i listened to John Talabots ‘Voices’ and Koze’s remix for Mano Le Tough with almost spiritual amazement.

Since i live in Munich, i decided to give them a letter with a link to some demos i had written but i wasn’t able to find their letter box right away and felt increasingly stupid about the idea & went home.

Earlier this year Benji and i met for the first time at about:blank during an event i was playing at, which was set up by the agency we both just joined. We had a great talk and at the end i asked him if he was interested in hearing some demos that i had ready. He said yes and now here we are.

Being able to release my music on one of my all-time favourite labels fills me with a lot of joy and pride is the least i can say.

Drawing from both mythology and scientific speculation, TAMTEN continues his meticulous world-building efforts on the first ever full length LP that follows up the story of “Diamentowa Sutra”.
Loosely based on the structure of an antique Greek tragedy, “End of That World” blurs the lines between both genres and narrative techniques. Even though intended for deliberate start-to-finish listening sessions similarly to a modern kraut / psych rock opera, the infectious grooves and mutant dub echoes beg for arcane communal dancefloors in the most unexpected settings.
TAMTEN never hesitates to borrow from seemingly unrelated sources of inspiration. Luckily, instead of boasting with cultural literacy, he’d rather invite us to join him on an odyssey through eras, ideas & often unnoticed or forgotten works of others to make our own connections and interpretations. Continuing his exploration of balearic, new wave and esoteric tropes in Polish music, he also manages to reference philharmony and world renowned pop icons.
The same approach is reflected in the ensemble of friends and artists contributing to “End of That World” with instrumentals, rearrangements, samples, voices and drawings. The personnel includes some of the prominent talents of their generation like Pejzaż, Freux and Ivan Bayor, acknowledged for introducing Polish and international audiences to obscure and yet club-ready sounds.
Utilizing both classic & modern gear, TAMTEN develops a palette of his own. New age ambiences are coupled with contemporary downtempo chuggy beats while coldwave-inspired dark disco pulsating synthesizers evoke a feeling of mystery and suspense with corresponding organic textures and ritual toms and clanky percussions.

The verdant-recordings techno and deepness caravan endeavours to promote the music of lesser known but accomplished producers. Its a huge honour present the 1st solo EP of K_Schreiber, one of several alias of London based Rupi Panesar. 

Explorations takes queues and inspiration from his lifetime of club culture experiences (on both sides of the DJ booth) his obsessive record collecting, whilst cultivating his obvious production skills. 

These tracks deftly assimilate sounds and textures from deep electro, techno, acid, dubs and traces of house with affection and reverence. It falls squarely into the Verdant Recordings deep and heady soundscape whilst offering unique, unconventional and playful textures.

Our pick from the album is ‘As still as these high mountains‘ – mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri aka The Sight Below at Black Knoll Studios, the track shifts from meditative guitar riffs to rasping walls of texture thick soundscapes, drawing out variations on a glacial landscape over 7-minutes. Be under no illusions, this is a pristine piece of dark ambient, meticulously carved into the permafrost.
