Taevalaotus & Joel Tammik inaugurate Estonian imprint Taevas Records this August with the ‘Sfäärid’ EP, comprised of four ethereal early 2000’s IDM inspired and hardware focused originals from the duo. 
Close to twenty years ago the artist name 'Taevalaotus' was brought to existence by a guy in Estonia - Margus Sootla. There's no direct translation to English for the word, the closest would probably be to translate it as 'The Vastness of the Sky'. Margus released the album ‘Ajastud’ in 2003 and was part of the D&B duo Nemos but has always been making and creating. Following a motorcycle journey around the world across 70 countries Margus returned to Estonia and continued to make music, joining forces with fellow Estonian Joel Tammik, who’s also been releasing material for nearly two decades via his own Väli imprint amongst others, Whether dub techno, ambient or experimental, analogue synthesizers have always been at the core of his productions. 
One day the guys decided to bring all the equipment together for a weekend jam, and the material for 'Sfäärid' EP came together. 
The title track and our premiere for today, 'Sfäärid,' is a mesmerizing ethereal electronica trip with fluttering synth sequences, crunchy electro-tinged drums and airy chord swells. 

'Sfäärid' EP is coming out on August 22 via Taevas Records.

PREMIERE: Taevalaotus & Joel Tammik - Sfäärid [Taevas Records]

Like a musical evolution, The Clearing Pt.2 grows, and writhes in front of you. The natural timbre of wood blocks coalesces nicely with the undulating water like synth, the wisp like melody sweeping through the trees surrounding. It’s an auditory awakening of the mind, and nature alike. Proving again and again that one can not live without the other in complete symbiosis.

2MR writes this, about the release: The Clearing, originally debuted in 2015 as part of the exhibition Flickers of Day and Night at Denmark’s ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum, consisted of larger-than-life spinning daisy sculptures surrounded by Djurberg’s signature claymation animations. Berg’s sound installation transforms from an ominous yet alluring pan flute composition into an otherworldly synth melody, underscored by a sticky echo tone and the occasional bird call. The effect is an almost unsettling invitation into the artists’ seemingly innocent forest, only to be plunged into the transgressive animations as the music transforms. 

The Clearing, and the rest of Hans Berg’ wonderfully nuanced Waypoints release will be out on the 16th of September.

Argentinian producer Mekas takes us to this dimension, filling time and space with an ethereal ambiance that is both as striking as it is inventive. His recent outing "Entropy" on the Aula Magna imprint saw him melding elements of immense calm with sharp, distinctive textures. It pricked our ears immediately, so it was only natural to invite him to contribute the next mix in our winter series. Turn on the heater, light some candles and Unrush.
