Konstantinos (@fluxion)Soublis’ music was born in urban Greece and really found its path during the mid 90s, in a city that existed in a state of ‘flux’ like no other in the 20th century. Berlin’s social, historical and political factors all came to bear both consciously and unconsciously on the musicians experimenting in the city around the turn of the millennium and the freedom in the city’s creative spirit was very much a reflection of these wider factors. This, along with the naivety and liberalism of the time, mixed with punk-like rebellion against form gave birth to many of the strains of techno and electronic music that now dominate the sound of clubs the world over. Fluxion was swept along in this wave of creating for creativity’s sake during this special time, with an organic, naturally fluid and playful attitude towards pushing artistic boundaries. With 10 Fluxion albums and numerous ep’s, his work sprawls across 2 decades. Fluxion was at the start of the Dub Techno movement that is now considered a gender with thousands of releases. Two decades of constantly releasing and blending sounds without resting on his laurels of now considered classic releases such Vibrant Forms I and II but always inducing his sound with new ideas, and embracing the free form improvisational approach which enables an artist to use his studio as an instrument not a tool. He has  collaborated with various well respected labels, such as Chain Reaction and @echocord as well as his own imprint Vibrant Music which has recently been re-launched (2017) for Fluxion and associated releases and collaborations . His more recent album works as Fluxion (Vibrant Forms III), was released in 2016 closing the trilogy commended back in 1999 on Chain Reaction. He then released (Ripple Effect) in 2018, combining electronic music with score music, and (Perspectives) in 2020 which has been described by the artist as his most personal work to date. Fluxion’s work takes the long view, “allowing sound to breath”, interact and meld together in new and unexpected ways, bringing in influences from other styles of music, classical, score, jazz, in an attempt to broaden the horizons and create new possibilities of the gender, and manages to do that keeping his characteristic sound and compositional aesthetic, keeping his music distinct.

‘For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

Welcome back to our inflight radio, we’re just slightly adjusting the trajectory towards the idea of imminent ecstasy. Dinner will be served in the next half an hour. Our guest for this edition of lunar landscapes is a local expert in the audible field: Citizen Maze aka Adam McCoy(no relation). A surgeon in every form of the definition, his precise and methodical approach to all things sound brings artistry to the world of DJ’ing. Or, as I like to call it “exploiting other’s artwork in a poetic manner”. His perfectionist ideals are also very apparent in his newly launched record label ‘Mirror Tapes’ (TIP!!) and the debut compilation that’s just dropped, the stunning collection of dubbed-out fairytales from around the world. Adam’s prodigious contribution is three and half hours of planet-hopping merrymaking, all whilst still having a foot in the shallow end of the rhythm section, quixotic exploits across all states of consciousness, layers upon layers of perfectly woven, history-rich tapestry. There is detailed explorations of all genres, sub-genres and even inventing new ones. It emerges as somewhat of a lecture in the field, cause and effect in full effect (big ups Ishikawa). As the mix peaks and drops, the journey to each emotional high is unique, both sides of the peak explore creative ways to not only get there but also the best way to leave. It’s impossible to really nail the mix down as a single piece, instead, I think of it as an entire exhibition at a gallery. Anyway, enough thought, just block out the next three and half hours and press play and feel.

GiGi FM is a trained dancer, which gives her a deeper insight into the intrinsic relationship between music and bodily movement. You can read a lot more about her philosophy and approach in the interview below, but you don't even need to know about it to hear this in her RA Podcast—a collection of swirling deep techno that rivals anything made by the usual cohort of "hypnotic" techno heads.

Looking at the tracklist doesn't really do it justice, but the names involved give you an idea of what to expect: Varuna, ASC, Donato Dozzy, The Orb, Sunju Hargun. This is techno that ripples rather than bludgeons, that moves with an ethereal grace, where tracks bleed into one another beautifully, with a few surprises, too. While you're here, you should check out her Magnetite EP for Bambounou's label Bambe, already one of the young year's most bewitching techno records. But if this is your introduction, then turn off the lights, light a candle or some palo santo, and sink into two hours of your new favorite techno DJ.

@tammohesselink has always been enthralled by rhythm. He explores the unknown areas in between the UK's broken beats and hypnotic trans-Atlantic techno. Hailing from a small town, he did things himself to start with and soon turned heads with his respected The Invariants label. After that began to get wider attention for its spacious and supple sounds, he went on to become a regular on Nous'klaer Audio and has just minted another new label, Real View Memory. The first EP, Borrowed Wheels, touches on percussive techno abstractions, halftime drum & bass and deep, atmospheric bass. 

All of that comes out in this week's mix. It is a 90-minute showcase of Tammo's ability to lay down body-popping rhythms. Sometimes they are silky and seductive and worm their way deep into your psyche, at others that are heavy, upfront and smack you over the head. The skillful balance between the moments of airy suspense and dense, unrelenting drums is what makes this selection so compelling.
