Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Anthony Asher-Yates approached ambient music when he moved to Colombia, being inspired by the diversity of the ecosystems that exist in this region. Known for taking his listeners deep into the tropical rainforest, Bålsam has conjured up a dream world surrounded by nature. Anthony's music is composed by field recordings he does during his walks though the mountains where he now lives with partner Nina Nativa and his daughter.

Many of these Tracks create a special mood in me
& have always accompanied me over the years.

Some of these tracks run over and over and my reaction is always the same: turn up the volume and listen reverently with a smile. So it makes sense for me to pack all of these tracks on one boat and go out to sea again.

Titan is the largest moon of Saturn. It is the only moon known to have a dense atmosphere, and the only object in space, other than Earth, where clear evidence of stable bodies of surface liquid has been found, including lakes, seas, rivers and rain. 

Kawaakari is the glow of a river or stream in darkness or dusk, the gleaming surface of a shadowed river (Japanese 川明かり).

Bio:

Ambionic (Joe Woodruff) has been an avid collector of all types of music since the early 90's and began mixing electronic music around 12 years ago. Initially influenced by Trance, Psy Trance, House and Techno, he now pursues the deeper and more downtempo sounds of Dub and Ambient.

About the mix:

This mix was inspired by both planet earth and outer space, it also alludes to Felix Baumgartner's parachute jump from the stratosphere which I feel perfectly bridges both these worlds. With Ambient music I prefer deep, melodic, cinematic, emotive and uplifting tracks so you will hopefully find this mix encompasses those sounds!

Ambient Sessions # 51 - Ambionic

Flexagon is a Guernsey-based sound mangler and musical instrument collector. He is also an experienced DJ, music producer, sound engineer and composer. As a DJ he is known for playing long eclectic and psychedelic sets spanning multiple genres, equally at home playing ambient and chillout as he is with dancefloor-friendly music.
Flexagon’s own music productions are increasingly esoteric and wide-ranging. Recent musical compositions have moved well away from four to the floor material towards the ambient and downtempo realms. Along with this has come the opportunity to compose for orchestral instruments. His first piece for nine string players, piano and found sound backing recording had its premiere performance in October 2018.
The new album, 7 Nocturnes East, is due out 24.1.2020.
7 Nocturnes East will have an accompanying visual and video art exhibition featuring the work of seven artists. At The Greenhouse, Guernsey Museum, Candie Gardens, Guernsey - more info soon.

I walked along the deserted streets of the ancient city, making my way closer and closer to its heart, embodied in the image of a huge mountain, on which, reminiscent of the Sacre Coeur from distance, majestically towered a temple...Yesterday it was a modern metropolis of glass, steel, and concrete, now, half of the city was destroyed...
Everything that formed the images of the broadcast space disappeared, leaving only the echoes of those who inhabited, created, and believed in the inviolability of millennial truths...But as before, the thread of fate did not leave me, even when the world disappeared into its mirror image - it cracked and crumbled into millions of grains of sand softly crunching underfoot...Wonder why it was I who was confronted with this mystery, the answer to which, by all senses, was waiting in this temple, soaring at the level of heaven...
Climbing this mountain, each step lifted a heap of images from the bottom, which seemed to have drowned forever in the ruthless ocean of memory...And the gaze cut them off as more unnecessary, outdated patterns...

I had never seen such an impressive structure before: countless statues of deities and creatures of different worlds adorned the walls, white steps of marble ascended with sparkling waves to the ledges of ancient columns supporting the Gothic arches...
The porch separating the worlds was passed and I ended up in a huge hall with a small pedestal in the center with the shape of a pyramid, similar to the one built by Maya and the Aztec...I can’t say for sure, but it seems that all this symbolized the structure of the universe...
In silence came the sound of a singing bowl wrought by craftsmen in secluded workshops, somewhere at the Tibetian lands, protected by Avalokiteshvar...This created a kind of contrast, dividing light and darkness, giving them clearly defined boundaries...The cry of a bird, low, like a tanpur, encircles the horizon...Something is and nothing is...Goosebumps ran and it looked like they meant synchronizing all possible phenomenas...Gradually, with the attenuation of the bowl's sound signal, exponentially, the rising light begins to permeate the structure of all objects that become slightly illuminated from the inside, and in the end, everything turns into flaming crystals...At this point, I realized that the balance between opposing principles allows to ignite the fire of transformation in the space of dark night...

Vital energy, as if the mighty Ganga fell on me, helping to realize everything as it is...Now, with this upward flow, I became the axis of the world and realized that it was a dilapidated city - it symbolized a loss of balance, and I came to this temple because I wanted changes...And now, being in the middle of my Will, at rest, internal connections and interactions, previously unknown to me, opened their gates and showed the importance of what is called the balance between light and darkness, good and evil, sound and silence, oneself and others, between states and ways of experiencing them...Now i feel free...

Hidekazu Imashige aka Gallery Six is an artist and composer who is based on Miyoshi Hiroshima, Japan.

He began his career as a musician playing drums in some bands, then in 2008, he started making ambient music releasing “Invisible” EP on Twisted Tree Line (UK), “Element Perspective 071” on Element Perspective (Japan) and some self-released albums.

In 2010, Gallery Six with other artists have formed “ArtLism.JP”, is an art group, made up of musician, photographer and film director, met together under the concept of interplay between “Art + Altruism”.

Based on his theme “Multidirectionally considering aesthetics which are very familiar, often forgotten, concealed in nature or events, and finally reveal them”, he has been making ‘sound sketches’ mixing drone sounds mainly created from synthesizer and materials field-recorded when he goes wherever his heart leads.

Hidekazu Imashige (aka Gallery Six) 는 일본 히로시마, 미요시에서 활동하는 아티스트이자 작곡가이다. 그는 뮤지션으로서의 경력을 밴드에서의 드러머로 시작했으며, 2008년 그는 영국의 Tweisted Tree Line 에서 "Invisible" EP 를, 일본의 Element Perspective 에서 "Element Perspective 071" 과 더불어 몇 개의 셀프 릴리즈를 발표하며 앰비언트 음악을 만들기 시작했다. 

2010년 Gallery Six 와 몇몇의 아티스트들은 사진가와 영화 감독, 뮤지션으로 구성된 아트 그룹 "ArtLism.JP" 를 조직했다. 그리고 Art 와 Altruism 사이의 어떤 지점에서 함께해왔다.

그는 "우리와 매우 친숙하며 때로는 잊혀지고 자연이나 사건에 숨어있는 것을 다방향적으로 고려하며, 그리고 마침내 그것을 찾아내는 것" 의 신념을 기반으로, 그의 마음이 이끄는대로, 주로 신디사이저와 필드 레코딩으로 만든 드론 사운드를 믹싱하여 사운드 스케치들을 만들어낸다.
