He recently released an amazing album on Silent Season, we have been digging a lot! From autonomic dnb, deep techno to a dreamy & melancholy ambient journey. Owl has quietly been rising through the ranks of a genre-bending leftfield sound where sonic depth and expressiveness prevail. "Hypnotic and psychedelic, downtempo-tribal dance of the future. Surround and opaque. Current realities that seem to be dystopian variations, of cloudy days, of acid rain. Glass of water and healing pill: transformation from dystopia to utopia, an abstraction if only for these almost two hours."

Author's note:

This mix has no big concept or plan. Just a bunch of tracks I liked from (mostly) the last couple of years brought together by mixing genres and tempos while trying to keep a certain spaced-out, dubby and somehow dystopic mood.  

Walden is a DJ and producer based in Barcelona. He's been a member of the Hivern Discs (@hivern_disc) team since the label's fundation. There, he has released two albums under the Mistakes Are Ok.

Adam Arthur lives in rural Arkansas where he records with his massive Buchla modular on his Funktion One system. We’ve never met anyone just like him, we first met him on the floor at No Way Back, then he came to our debut at Berghain in 2014. It grew to playing for him in Memphis and people like Larry Heard and Chad White showing up to the party. IT released a record from Adam last year, and he participated in the NWB stream, this is a recording of that set. That went so well that we’ve asked him to join us this year in the Outer Space Room at No Way Back as we return to physical reality at The Tangent, as part of Return to the Source 2022. 

In his own words:

“I was in shock and disbelief when asked to perform in the Outer Space room for No Way Back. I am so grateful to the IT team for giving me the opportunity to traverse this sonic realm where I feel most at home. 

My objective in the studio is always to create an immersive atmosphere or environment in which to lose my sense of self. This approach only became clear to me after I discovered the Buchla, which I use in this episode, along with a few other analog instruments. Every live set I create is fresh and unique for each occasion. The parts are not separate tracks, but a continuous, sonic deep-dive. 

Again, I want to thank the IT team for the amazing opportunity and trust to make this. I hope to create a new world for 2022.”
