When I was 10, I purchased my very first “record”, a cassette tape single (came in a cardboard sleeve).  Prior to this, if I wanted to play a popular song “on demand", I would rush to my boombox and record them from the FM station onto the cassette deck.  I remember walking into the Sam Goody at Fair Oaks Mall to buy my favorite song at the time, Bette Midler’s “From a Distance” (yes, there were signs even back then lol ).  I’ve always loved this song, such catchy melodies & harmonies, and a powerful message explaining that while our world appears completely perfect and beautiful from a zoomed out perspective, up close we need a lot of work to cure our most serious problems: war, hunger, disease, at the same time inspiring us to be better versions of ourselves as God is watching, from a distance.  Songwriter Julie Gold was so brilliant in composing these lyrics.   
A few months ago, I came to the realization that surprisingly this song has never been remixed into a main-room/circuit style house anthem, it’s still one of my favorite songs.  I wanted to do this record right, stripping the original down to only Bette’s voice, and adding soaring orchestrals & a driving groove that will uplift the audience.  I reached out to one of my favorite DJ’s to ask if he’d been interested in collaborating and co-producing this project with me, and thankfully multi-time Billboard #1 dance chart producer Toy Armada agreed with excitement and enthusiasm.  I am incredibly proud to debut today Bette Midler’s “From a Distance” The Royal Remix from TANNER + Toy Armada.
This mix is in the key of Gmajor, and I hope it may be fairly popular at Pride celebrations soon, as Pride season is about to get started.  While this version is perfect for festive Tea Dances and the like, we have also produced a version that is in the key of Eminor, which adds a darker and mysterious vibe that is a better fit for prime/peak dancefloors in the early morning entitled the “Afters Edit”- that will be released next week.
