Jaxe is a music producer, DJ and founder of the Mixed Feelings label with released his music on the Dom Trojga, K-Hole Trax, glamourous.label and Behind The Stage labels. He performed in many Polish clubs as well as abroad, including HÖR Berlin. His music is a mix of acide, idm, trance, electro and breakbeat, and his DJ sets are full of variations around these styles. He is also involved in creating educational video content at Arturia, a French company that creates modern musical instruments.

Taking control of the fabric podcast for our 21st episode is an addictive contribution from Germany-based beat curator and master of genre-hybridity, DJ SPIT.

🔥Heather Helix @heatherhelix is a Poznań based DJ with background in classical music. Her adventure started after winning mix contest organized by Oramics collective in 2019. Since then, she regularly appears at local clubs, but she also played in Wrocław, Warsaw, Gdansk and Cracow. Usually serves multi-genre sets containing techno, electro, trance and acid. Her record collection is dominated by arpeggiators, Roland TB-303, as well as processed vocals and melodic leads.

Versatile producer, DJ and pioneer member of the Parisian Collective HORS-SOL, Germain CLS is on the hunt for harmonies blending progressive and efficient sounds with fundamentally danceable beats. 

Germain’s debut solo EP on 39 Records is a dance floors communication toolbox restructuring essential 90s rave elements into a trance and progressive fusion.

Opening track, « The Bass » is a key  component of the The Tools EP, as it is a key element of the track itself. Oscillating between frequencies and filters the bass line is twisted but ubiquitous, pulsating relentlessly.

Otto Taimela (interestingly, when written in French as "t’aime là," it means "Otto loves you there") is a part of the new wave of quietly innovative contemporary Finnish artists. His releases, spanning from local Finnish labels like Ultraääni Records to international platforms such as Reflections by Anjunadeep, showcase a broad spectrum from contemporary neo-classical to dubby experimental minimal techno and lofi house.

“Sunflower Seeds”, his debut release on Cold Blow, captures the essence of spring's rebirth, the return of warmth, and the energizing effect of sunlight designed to thaw the winter chill from the listener's soul. The premiere track “Sunshine: Reloading”' features a blend of ambient-breakbeat music with a nuanced experimental mix of colors and textures, delivering a melody that's both spacious and vaguely hazy. Moreover, Otto's own delicate piano playing adds a deeply personal touch to the track.

The EP is also the start of a trilogy from Otto Taimela, with the next releases planned for SWIMS, the experimental sister imprint of Cold Blow.

It’s been one whole earthly rotation around our star since rave acolytes Match Box nourished us with their euphoric jungle xploration ‘Cyber Sunshine’. Later on, rumors of secret mixes from Dylan Forbes, Angel D’lite & Eoin DJ began to surface… with this EP release, London label Goddezz gathers these floating spirits into a whole for the first time accompanied by an illuminating new ‘Dutch Sunset’ club mix from Match Box.

Mixed Feelings presents a VA remix EP of Jaxe's track titled "Flames" (released in 2023 via Peace Tomorrow VA) from Bejenec, Bakblivv, Avtomat, Tamten and Jaxe's own flip.

Beginning with Bejenec's remake, Flames emerge as reminiscent of the golden days of 4/4 UK bass, boasting a commanding bassline that drives the rhythm alongside drums infused with lots of swing.

Following suit is Babklivv, whose distorted low frequencies disrupt the previous remix structure, presenting a beat driven by broken kicks, perpetually building a seductive tension.

The third track belongs to Avtomat, who further diversifies the mix with an onslaught of heavy percussive hits seamlessly melded with a dubstep-inspired bass, gradually enveloping the listener until exhaustion sets in.

TAMTEN then offers a momentary, deeper interpretation, imbuing the original with a southwestern sonic flavor, evoking an abstract dream that seems to stretch on indefinitely.

Finally, Jaxe's reinterpretation brings the EP to a close, reimagining the original bassline with uptempo breakbeat drums and a captivating sawtooth hook, elevating the energy into higher BPM territory.
