'Magnetismo' is a prickly opener with slippery rhythms underpinned by bold bass. 'Domo' is a darker sound with menacing low ends and prickly percussive patterns while 'Sideral' is another late-night prowler with low sling sounds, eerie atmospheres and a real sense of futurism. Duro Label proudly announces the release of "Baba Music Vol. II," the latest EP from Rina. The EP features exciting collaborations with JulyJuli and The Flying Spoon, as well as a joint effort with HNRQ. Adding to the musical tapestry are remixes by Shubostar and Made In TLV.

"Baba Music Vol. II" kicks off with "Daily Grind" featuring JulyJuli, a hypnotic and playful track. This solid cut captivates listeners with its potent rhythms and entrancing elements. JulyJuli's mesmerizing vocals weave seamlessly through the track, keeping the audience in a perpetual state of trance. Following this is the "Daily Grind (Made In TLV Remix)," which transforms the original into an epic journey tailored for those magical sunrise moments at a rave. Made In TLV infuses the track with intricate percussive layers, reverberated resonances and epic melodies.

The EP continues its sonic exploration with "De Sum," a collaborative effort between Rina and The Flying Spoon. The original version features a dreamlike melody that serves as the backbone of the composition. Intricate arpeggios create a tunnel-like effect, drawing listeners deeper into the sonic landscape with each passing moment. Complementing the original is the "De Sum (Shubostar Remix)," which offers a fresh perspective on this already captivating track. Sabo's record label, Sol Selectas, sets sail on its tenth annual Summer Sol compilation, which collects together tracks from around the world. Focusing on organic house, it also features genres such as Afro house, deep house, downtempo, and deep tech.

It features 25 tracks that have roots in 17 different countries, and includes contributions from label favourites such as Sabo, Yamil, Mula, Giovanni Aparicio, Guy Maayan, Adwas, and DJ Phellix. There are also many Sol Selectas debuts, including the first ever official releases by the likes of Rameff, Matur, DBRA, and Basement Radio.

The compilation celebrates the day of the summer solstice, which is the year's longest day of sunlight. Embracing cultural diversity, it features tracks by artists with roots in Egypt, Iran, Tunisia, Greece, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Poland, Indonesia, France, Germany, Israel, and Argentina.

Summer Sol's concept reminds us that under the sun's rays we are all equal, regardless of skin colour, gender, political allegiances or sexuality. This release is a celebration of how music brings people together, and that diversity is something to embrace with open arms.

Each of the tracks on this compilation have been hand selected by Sabo with the intention to uplift the body, open the mind, and touch the soul.

In addition to working with Sol Selectas, many of the artists on this release have also featured on other respected record labels such as MoBlack Records, Monaberry, Pipe & Pochet, Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, Abracadabra Music, Cosmic Awakenings, 3000 Grad Records, Akbal Music, and many others of equal note.

PREMIERE: A X L & Shika Saber Feat. Obada - El Leila [Sol Selectas]

After a fantastic solo single in late 2018, Theus Mago is back with more club heat, this time in collaboration with the Local Suicide duo on his own co-run Duro label, while Aera and Colossio remix.

Theus Mago is the alter-ego of established Mexican producer Mateo González. Responsible for projects such as Bufi (Kitsuné/Discotexas) and Sonido Fantasma (Turbo Recordings) he has a deeply expressive, freeform sound that mixes darker moods with beautiful synths. After releasing a series of EPs inspired by Philip K. Dick’s Ubik, he now works with Berlin-based DJs and real-life couple Max Brudi (Munich) and Vamparela (Thessaloniki) who have been collaborating and making waves together since 2007. The pair has found success releasing on Canada’s My Favorite Robot Records and Multi Culti, and San Francisco's Roam.

The excellent lead single has lyrics translated from German to English as ‘Come Into The Hole’. This double entendre can be taken as the never-ending vortex of deep space, as well as the dark recesses of underground clubs, which is where the track will resonate. It has sparkling keys and droning synths laid over big rubbery kicks. Post- punk vocals bring a dark energy and slight EBM feel as the jacking percussion drives it along and gets the floor in a sweat.

The first fantastic remix comes from Aera, who has recently released his own album ‘The Sound Path’ on Permanent Vacation. With a heavy hand on the filter, Aera removes most of the sparkling highs of the track in favour of its more foreboding frequencies. His remix was one of the highlights at the Innervisions Off Sonar Open Air event, during Áme's back to back set with Dixon and at Tomorrowland during Solomun's set. On the flip side, Colossio’s vital interpretation of the track is brighter, as the Mexican artist who recently made a debut splash with his four track EP ‘Moto’ on Calypso Records, enlivens and accentuates the vocals, making for something that is fresh and arresting.

This is another excellent release from this young but essential and rapidly growing label.

The intriguing tale of French duo Kimshies continues... Their sole release from 2004 re-upped into the ether by Solomun in 2018, it triggered a return to the studio after almost 15 years. Making up for lost time, they’ve already dropped two exceptional EP's on Nein. Now comes their Duro debut... And it’s a perfect dark disco match.

Even the title says as much ‘Fucked Up Mama’: a scuzzy, frazzled jam rich in oiled distortion and lighting strike synths and a rising case of venomous acid mid-way, there’s a grit in the groove that’s going to take more than a few lockdown handwashes to feel clean from. It’s coupled by a series of equally forthright remixes: fresh from completing his debut album for Life & Death, Disco Halal alumni Autarkic strips your mama down to her kickdrum undies and redresses her in a dynamic laser laced charmer.

He’s in good company... Nein brethren Cabaret Nocturne makes a welcome appearance with a creeping dark electro twist while La Dame Noir’s Arthur Johnson gets busy with two perspectives; one where the swing and organs provide funky refreshment and a bonus one which takes us right back into the gritty analog mama-fucking attitude of the original. Exceptional. The intriguing tale continues...

Despite the challenges and weirdness of the year, boundary-blazing bandoleros Duro continue to shoot through 2020, all-pistols-blazing. Releases have fired from all corners but one of the strongest themes has been the ‘Muy Duro’ volumes. The Mexican label’s flagship V/A series, each EP digs deep into the dark disco psyche, celebrating the label’s widest sonic outposts and reference points with friends and shared spirits from across the world, old and new. Marking a year of the series, with tracks from Israel to Istanbul, ‘Muy Duro Volume 5’ is certainly no exception.

Veteran cosmic groover Tim Paris makes his long-awaited debut with the slouching funk and broken drum swagger of ‘Better Slightly Unchanged’ before two more collaborations join the party with their Duro debuts, all hailing from Israel; Middle Sky Boom and AckerMan whisk us through the stars on ‘Temp Goes High’ while Rina X Benji pay homage to mind alteration on the electroid bumps and asteroid grinds of ‘Koshmaro’.

Professional belly dancers and long-time friends of Duro Hanzo & Yaman follow with ‘Hokus Pokus’. A springy, playful slab of house music laced with pitched bells and a riser that teases and teases, there’s a late 90s/early 200s mischief to this that, like the label itself, just won’t quit. The final word comes from the label bossman Theus Mago and French brother-in-arms Id!r… And that word is techno. Deep bleeps and endless pulsations, ‘Soft Light’ is an epic moment of pure late night hedonism that sits somewhere between Bobby Peru and Plastikman. Blazing boundaries and still fully loaded, the Duro bandoleros keep on shooting.
