Satellite Era is a Chicago-based record label & art collective that pairs forward-thinking audio with innovative visual design.

Our intention is to aid in the progression of experimental electronic music by pushing boundaries in multiple mediums. We aim to provide an inclusive online shrine for artists to reach their fullest potential & enthusiasts to tap into a more exploratory side of art consumption.

Nearly 2 years since our crew’s last transmission, we are proud to present Label Showcase 02 – a deep expedition into the future of our collective in 2023 and beyond.  The mix includes a combination of formative tracks released on our label last year, along with exclusive material set to debut in the coming months. 

Join us as we welcome a diverse group of artists across the electronic music sphere, fusing together to bring the dancefloor rhythms that encapsulate our sonic heritage.

The Satellite Era project began as a group of friends seeking to share art together - this quickly resulted in a diverse family of music makers spanning across the globe, each bringing eclectic ideas to the team that complement our sound. Through the power of association, we are proud to debut the first-ever collaborative release by two artists who met through our expanding community.

Phoenix-based multimedia artist Brendan Rincon is no stranger to our imprint; having released two singles on our Distant Arrays series under his real name, he has now transitioned his skills to building the Undulae project. Being both a student and teacher in electronic music, his sound design has made it onto commercial productions for various films and advertisements. Utilizing iterative composition to repurpose his creations, Undulae has solidified his personal style in what can be described as emotive yet challenging post-bass music.

Although having been around the community since its conception, we welcome Asheville-based producer Billy Morasso for a proper release on our catalog. A product developer at world-renowned Moog Music, he always finds himself surrounded by production hardware. Whether it be vintage relics or bareboned circuit boards ready to be toyed with, Morasso captures the essence of his gritty synthesizers and digitizes it to his liking. Aside from production, he has also helped spearhead an underground dance scene in Asheville with the “party w/djs” crew, bringing an array of core genres to his local community.

Combining the effort of these two prolific producers, “Boundary Test EP” is a contrast between complex experimentations and club music. Although intended for dancefloor usage, it does not cower away from challenging the listener with high-fidelity sound design, staying busy in the stereo space while keeping the low-end consistent for the club. The project kicks things off with “Veiled In Your Eyes,” a techy drum ‘n’ bass track that blends warm pads with glitching percussion. The title track, a fan-favorite in our recent label showcase mix, embodies UK garage with buzzing synths that feel playfully attentive. “Different Spheres” draws inspiration from the melodic side of bass music, bringing a more serious tone to the project. The EP closes out with “Love In Potential,” a warm jungle track that progresses into the sunset.

Throughout “Boundary Test EP,” a clear collision between influences can easily be heard, highlighting the similarities in Undulae and Morasso’s intentions. Combining organic hardware production with cutting-edge sound design via modern devices, this project aims to set a standard for experimental club music - one that pushes the envelope of its overall potential.

Satellite Trax: an expansion of our core imprint that focuses on dance-centric music and its club roots; part of the foundation within our sonic heritage. This sublabel serves as a primary source of dancefloor weaponry for DJs and enthusiasts aiming to unveil the latest rhythms heard from around the electronic music sphere.

Just over two years since the conception of our Satellite Trax sublabel, we have decided to take the best of our inaugural run and return it to the many supporters of our shift towards club music. We extracted personal and fan favorites from the eight circuits that compose our first season, highlighting the many twists and turns of this series thus far. With season two right around the corner, expect a complete visual redesign, both new and familiar faces gracing our library, and most importantly: an abundance of club-centric tracks ready to push sonic boundaries even further and shapeshift onto dancefloors around the globe.
