Berti Komproe was born on June 21, 1989 in Curacao and grew up in a musical family consisting of a Bonairean mother, a father of Surinamese ancestry and a older sister. During his childhood he often moved from one place to another, which gave him the opportunity to learn alot about different countries (Curacao, Bonaire and the Netherlands), people, cultures and traditions. Diversity has always played a huge role in his life. Even though he has been in contact with music since his birth, it was till he became 15, after his father who whas a political greatness on Curacao passed away, that he strenghten his bond with art and music. Indescribable thoughts and emotions could only be expressed through lyrics and drawing of caricatures.

After years of filling notebooks and recording with a karaoke microphone in his room he decided in 2010 to release his first official song. After this followed different singles, videoclips and in 2012 even a web tape. For a few years he didn’t release any songs, but in the meantime he has made a personal and artistic development. The way he uses his touching flow to interpret social but often also romantic lyrics makes his style unique. His music can make you dance and think at the same time. Caribbean melodies supported by an Afro-rythmic beat is a characteristic of his songs.

Besides music he  has huge  passion for theater, acting and social work. He works as an actor in a theater group of Rotterdam. This group performs at different high schools in this city. In the future he wants to start a foundation that gives unprivileged youth the space, opportunity and facilities to develop their artistic skills. Through his music he wants to inspire and motivate the youth to follow their dreams and turn them into reality.
