Life-long friends who grew up together in the countryside of Northern France, Jonas and Tom form Oppressed Society, a duo of producers and DJs based in Lille.

Their name comes from a simple observation: today’s society is ever more oppressive, seeking to buy your attention, and distracting you from your path. Thus, their music is an invitation to escape, conveying emotions ranging from hope to melancholy, and offering their response to this oppressive society.

With a dancefloor-focused energy, they defend a music without artifice, oscillating between driving hypnotic grooves, dubby chords and shiny pads, a soundscape they’ve crafted over years of experience and which intends to make you feel alive and fulfilled.

Also, the deep connection between these two artists allows them to play like one 4-handed DJ, shaping the sound like no solo DJ ever could.

▪️¿Cuáles fueron tus mayores influencias musicales?

Mi primer acercamiento a la electrónica fue por allá en el 2018 cuando se hacían raves en el monumento de los héroes.
Esto despertó mi interés y luego empecé a incursionar más en el género y descubrí el progressive, especialmente el de Mark Reeve y Dennis Horvat entre otros. Poco a poco fui adentrándome más en el mundo de la electrónica y me encuentro con sellos como Axis y su referente jeff mills, y Bedrock Records con Tone depth.  Adopte mucho de estos estilos estridentes y ritmos sincopados, acompañados de melodias y armonias sinestésicas que hoy en dia incluyo a la hora de crear mis producciones y mezclas.


▪️¿Como definirías tu estilo musical?

Melodías hipnóticas y percusiones estridentes como las de nuestro folklore colombiano, emulando la naturaleza del baile y el transe intrínseco que produce en el humano. Yo le llamo "techno folclórico"

▪️Si pudieras tocar en cualquier lugar del mundo, ¿Cuál sería?

Sin duda alguna en Europa, no importa el país.

▪️¿Qué consejo le darías a alguien que quiere comenzar su carrera como DJ hoy en día?

Estar dispuesto a recorrer el camino y tener la voluntad para sobrellevar cualquier adversidad. invertir el tiempo necesario para aprender y ensayar mucho.

Uncage, the label curated by Marco Faraone, proudly presents the six-track journey, “The Overtones EP”, a collaboration between Marco Faraone and Yoav Nizri, a rising talent marking his second release on UNCAGE. Known for pushing hypnotic and textural techno, this release showcases their combined ability to craft deep, atmospheric cuts with relentless energy and precision.

“The Overtones” blends rolling percussion, pulsating low-end, and layered melodies, creating a hypnotic and driving experience designed for late-night immersion. “Ralaoci” leans into intricate percussion and evolving synth textures, balancing tension and release with a sleek underground edge.

“Other Expression” carries a warm, groove-driven flow, weaving basslines and subtle melodic layers into a sophisticated club piece. On “Organized Cut”, the duo explores percussive and groove-heavy rhythms, adding crisp textures for refined dance floor energy.

Tuscany-born and Barcelona-based, Marco Faraone has carved out a reputation as one of techno’s most respected names, with performances at Fabric, Panorama Bar, and DC10 and releases across leading labels such as Drumcode, Rekids, and Defected. His imprint UNCAGE has become a hub for forward-thinking sounds, with releases from Radio Slave, Mark Broom, Donato Dozzy, and new-wave talents like Anfisa Letyago.

Yoav Nizri, a promising newcomer, made his debut with his Elmot EP on UNCAGE and now takes a bold step forward with this second release alongside Marco. With raw energy and an ear for hypnotic textures, he continues to shape his identity as one of techno’s rising forces.

With “The Overtones EP,” Marco Faraone & Yoav Nizri deliver a cohesive and hypnotic statement, marking another confident step in both artists’ journeys and a powerful addition to the Uncage catalogue.
