I wrote this song whilst struggling to get motivated with writing music, finding inspiration and getting my life on track after some setbacks. I guess I was in a bit of a rut, but I think a lot of us were over lockdown. Ironically this song whilst being about this experience was also the thing that got me out of it and into a style of writing that inspired a bunch of new material.

This track will be me embarking on my journey, releasing music that I have written and produced 100% by myself and in turn is something that I feel unbelievably passionate about and am excited to finally share with the world.

In this melancholic retrenchment with a driving bassline, B asks: what happens when stuff’s gone really badly wrong? How do we resist and recover and regroup? Brighton-based electronic pop duo Sock Drawer return with “Bored” a woozy, slow-burning dream-pop track set in a parallel universe where they’re rich, famous, and finally on tour. In reality? They’re just... bored.

One of the earliest tracks written for their upcoming debut album, “Bored” began as a stripped-back acoustic tune—a half-baked escape plan rooted in a fantasy trip to Amsterdam. That trip never happened, but the daydream stuck. Over time, the song grew into a layered, sample-heavy voyage through inertia and imagination. Guitars pulse with restless energy, drum loops stutter and swirl, and the final section bursts into a euphoric 4-to-the-floor outro—a pop-fuelled hallucination of a tour that never was.

Vocalist Ebony Grace reflects on being a tourist in your own life adrift, daydreaming, and disconnected. “‘Bored’ is set in a kind of parallel universe—by the end of the track, we’re on tour and rich and famous. But really, we’re just daydreaming on the sofa,” she says.

It’s escapism disguised as a pop song—or maybe the other way around.
