2023 marks FKOF Records’ 10th year as an imprint, and we’re pretty proud of our track record over the last decade. We’ve seen some of 140bpm’s rising stars – Chokez, Argo, Causa, Kodama, Ourman, 11th Hour, WZ to name a few – announce their talents to the genre and then go on to establish themselves as world-recognised talent. Not to rest (too much) on our laurels, but we think the artist behind FKOFd059’s EP might just follow that trajectory…

FKOFd059 is available to pre-order and drops via our bandcamp 02/12/22. It's then available at Beatport the Friday after, and on general release two weeks after that.

‘If you’ve caught the FKOF Sessions show on SWU FM (RIP) or Subtle Radio throughout 2022, you’ll have heard a track played on an almost month basis. For those that know their classical music, you’ll maybe have recognised a nifty flip of Allegri’s 'Miserere' – taking the goosebump-inducing material down a darker path. The genius behind that tune, 'Deus', is Matt Darkai. At this point, we can’t not give uncle N-Type a shout out, because it was through Wheel & Deal and Darkai’s 'Immortal' EP we discovered Matt’s talents. We talked tunes at the start of this year, Matt sent us some dubs, and the rest is history. 

‘FKOFd059 kicks off with 'Ox' (suitably visualised on the EP cover by the wonderful Lal Yetki), all cavernous atmospherics and sub pressure. The second inclusion is the aforementioned 'Deus', which you’ll either have heard already or you’ll very quickly understand why it’s one of this year’s tunes for us. Next up we have the suitably-named 'Danger', all wobbly synths and main-room 2am madness. It’s a lot. Last, but definitely not least, we end with 'Swamps'. It settles things down into a deeper groove, all growls and crisp percussion. The second drop’s a lot, as well. To round things out, because it’s the end of the year and we like celebrating, we’ve also included a FKOF Free Download alongside the EP – Matt’s 'Loud Voices' bootleg, reworking another classic with his signature brooding twist.  

‘We think Matt Darkai’s a perfect addition to the FKOF Records family and sound –  beats, bass and space through and through. He’s released on a bunch of decent labels to date, so we’re delighted to welcome him to ours, and we know this track record will continue. Watch this space.’

We welcome DJ Chimera to the NWSC roster with our 19th release, and it's titled "Fauno". DJ Chimera describes this release as such:

"Fauno" is the Spanish term for a faun, a mythical creature from Greek mythology that is part human and part goat. 

According to some tales, the faun experienced a series of transformations, oscillating between its human and goat forms before eventually becoming "Faceless".  

During this phase, the creature heard "Voices" and lived its remaining life in agony."

15 years ago I lost all my jungle record collection in a storage fire while I was living in New York
I remember thinking to my self fuck it they will come back to me some way in the future......and it's now 2017 and a few moths ago I landed a big deal putting my music on a world wide tv show I remember getting the check and hearing a voice inside my head "re invest in your self and it will change m back double"  so I thought to my self fuck it I want my jungle vinyl back so I jumped on discogs and went nuts buying all my shit back then I herd now put on a party the way it ustoo be so I ended up throwing a all jungle I party with my friend audio angel that ended up evolving into a mid west at tour so that made my money back and what le I was getting records in the mail I would sample each record and crate random loops and audio ideas all set to 174 beats per minute
And one night i just went in and created this ep on Lap top speakers
Then went into a big studio and mixed The the whole project in one day .... this was by far the fastest ep I've ever vet made in my life maby because I had all ready made loops and ideas out of all the records I was resampling maby it's because I was just going with my gut feeling or was it that one voice in head directing the wold dam thing some would say the sub concision...
One that my lead to another I s not it to brosafari he loved it and suggested putting it out on evil intent
And I thought it was a great Match for this ep and boom hear you go this is the whole dam jury in one ep
