Jay Love: Queen of Beats
“I proclaimed myself Queen of Beats because I know my production is superior but I’m a champion lyrically as well.”

Like most people, Jay’s love for music started when she was child.  At age seven she picked up guitar and drums and played along with the tunes on the radio.  But her love affair with music began when she heard “Give Me Your Love” by Curtis Mayfield. The 29 year old Jennifer Gholston remarks about that event, “At that moment I was speechless. My jaw dropped in amazement and it’s hard to make me feel that way.”  After she graduated high school she pondered about leaving her hometown of St. Louis to move to New York but decided against it and instead built a studio in her mother’s basement.  Jay was originally a rapper but turned to producing when the tracks she had been receiving were not to her liking.  Within a few years she was producing for artists throughout the Midwest region and eventually crowned herself as ‘Queen of Beats’.  In 1999, she established a nine – member rap group, M.O.B.B. Muzik, Inc. They established a relationship with Ruff Ryders and performed all over the country.  M.O.B.B. Muzik is still making songs together but Jay is stepping out on her own.  She declares of her lyrics, “We have our own label now so we can do what we want and I can say what I feel.  I know I say things that are racy and so – called taboo but, it is what it is, and as a proponent of the LGBT movement, I think somebody should be discussing the things that occur in our community.  I’m not going to be silent about it, that’s not my style.” She is also the VP of Maxima Cum Laude Entertainment which is co-owned by some of the members of M.O.B.B. Muzik.  Her first solo album is due for release in January 2014 and it will be available on all major digital outlets.  Trust and believe Jay Love’s fearless beats and rhymes will not go un-noticed so prepare yourselves for her arrival.

He’s landed collaborations with the likes of Meek Mill, Dave East and Casanova, to name a few. His first project, Don Season, helped established the rapper and earn him a solid following. Earlier this week, he dropped Corner Stories, a 12-track mixtape featuring heavyweights like Styles P, Jadakiss and Fabolous. The new projects will tell Don Q’s story before the fame.
