Techno unsung hero and veteran Tyler Smith, producer and DJ from northern France, has built a global reputation over the last 15 years for his diverse releases and energetic radio and live shows. Even if his appearances on scene were rare, he played in some of the most respected clubs and festivals across Europe since the late 2000's under his aliases Tyler Smith and Black Smith Craft : Detatched in Leeds, Reverb parties in London, Trust party at Queen's day in Amsterdam and more recently at Resonance in Birmingham in 2012.  True activist and altruist minded dude, Tyler has built his reputation on his continued effort to promote a wide range of new stuff and artists related to Detroit to Birmingham inspired stuff, mostly thanks to his huge responsibilities on FM and web radios from 2007 to now.  His dj sets has been spotlighted by lots of podcast owners past years for his never failing track selection and skill at decks.

In real life, Tyler is your neighbour, your colleague at work, your best friend or the dude walking behind you in the street… No distinctive signs (underground undercover). But put a mixer in the man's hand and you'll find out he knows his stuff.

SAVED104 -  Santos - Cotton Clash EP

SAVED104 sees a regular face make a welcome return to the every-growing roster of young talent surrounding the label; the Italian-born Santos, presents his latest collective of dancefloor hits with the extremely well-rounded Cotton Clash EP.

Beginning with the rolling and percussive elements of From A Phe, Santos reminds us why he remains one of the great exports from the label, with this being his third fully-fledged solo EP on Saved.  Balanced perfectly with sharp drums, and an infectious vocal throughout, From A Phe leads effortlessly onto the jackin' grooves of the flip side.  Desk 94 moves along nicely, fusing a medley of piercing hi-hats with driving synth lines and jackin’ drums to create, arguably, the most peak-time record of the package, showcasing Santos’ creativity and versatility at the same time.  Inevitably we come to the last record in the package - Personal Safari - the finale of what is set to be a straight-up package of dancefloor hits from Saved and Santos.  The 3rd track doesn’t let up however, and strives to keep the relentless energy up right to the bitter end - pounding snares combine with contagious hats and complex vocals to create the cherry-on-the-cake in what could well be Santos’ best release on the label thus far.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

All mixes and music in general contain only tracks with license or tracks produced by me.  My usual setup is 1x Pioneer DJM 900 nexus, 2x traktor D2 next generation decks and Native Instruments Maschine MK2.
