The follow-up to last year's 'NQ State of Mind' mix project is headed by two of The North Quarter's most enduring artists: Redeyes and Fox. Mixtapes represent an important symbol of the formative years of many of the artists on this Amsterdam-based label and so it's only right that the tradition is continued by Redeyes and Fox, who both have a long history as music enthusiasts. Consisting solely of TNQ music - including 10 exclusives - this is NQ State of Mind, Vol 2.

  Throughout 31 tracks, mixed by 'smooth operator' Redeyes and backed with Fox's uplifting vocals, this is a journey through The North Quarter's five year catalogue. All artists that make the label the respected entity it is today are featured as well as some unexpected faces. The 10 exclusive tracks will be released on a 2x12” gatefold LP to accompany the mix.

Track Twelve: “consume my flesh (The_Texture Remix)” — Liquid DnB Chaos in a Minimalist Suit

By track twelve, “SEX FOR MONEY” dips into enigma territory with Texture’s remix of “consume my flesh”. The_Texture is one of those names you hear whispered in producer circles, more myth than man—and this being his first drum & bass track only makes it more impressive. You’d never guess it, though. This one holds its own against the heavyweights.

It lives in that perfect minimalist pocket: groovy enough to keep bodies moving, restrained enough to feel intentional, but with just enough distortion and punk grit from the original to keep it dangerous. There’s a smooth, liquid undercurrent here, but it still packs the kind of raw energy that makes you want to get reckless on the dance floor.

As a fresh take on the duo’s first single, it’s shockingly competitive with the other remixes scattered across the album. The_Texture doesn’t fail to impress with his take on “consume my flesh” at all—he reimagines it, making it as ready for a dark warehouse set as it is for your headphones.
