Press Your Luck Records and Tapes Announces Release of THE BARSTOOL BENNY QUARTET: STANDARDS

LA, Chicago, NY — Press Your Luck Records is pleased to announce the release of Standards by The Barstool Benny Quartet, capturing the group in their last American recording sessions before relocating to Montreal.

Recorded in 1993, Standards finds Benny's Hammond B3 leading the quartet through classic material with the urgency of musicians about to leave everything familiar behind. The album showcases The Barstool Benny Quartet at a pivotal moment, interpreting well-known compositions with a mix of reverence and restlessness. What emerges is a document of a band on the threshold. Shortly after these sessions, the Quartet would make their move north to Montreal, eventually landing in Paris. Standards stands as the last word they had to say on American soil. In a decade ruled by Kenny G and Michael Bolton, it was time to split.
