This song began as a bass composition recorded as a stem by Mark. He named it after a hang out spot he and his friends used to go to as teenagers to drink beer and smoke bowls. He shared it with JJ, who turned it over to the Eclectic Collective so that we could have our way with it. However, Mark didn't use a click track to record it, so when he sent it to us, Ken had to come up with a drum beat based on Mark's structure, to which Mark then redid his bass part. That takes a lot of imagination on Ken's part when we do something that way.
The first one of us to lay down a part for it was Chris, who added some really freaky textural guitar. Ken was next up, completing the rhythm section with his mighty drums. Ken then redid his part to better match the bass, thus completing the rhythm section with his mighty drums. Then, Stephen laid down the gritty, underlying rhythm guitar that runs throughout. Josh was up next, adding his melodic wah guitar to the mix. JJ came along soon after and laid down the magical synth that runs throughout. Last, but not least. Tez dropped the fiery solo towards the end.
Once the music was all laid down, we thought it could use some oohs and aahs at the end, so Josh recorded them as a five part harmony. However, choosing to only use the highest thee parts in the song, our expert producer on this one, Tez, decided to make a coda out of all five. So, stick around for a treat at the end!
This is the third song the Eclectic Collective has done as a collab with Mark F. He's a very talented solo bassist, whose other music worth checking out on his page, as well. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

'E.T. In The Shadows' is a Jazz Fusion track  and collaboration with
Georg Boehme (Winds) and Andy Grossart (Bass). 
Andy sent me through a 32 bar Bass solo and asked me if I could use it. This is the outcome from that 32 bars. Georg's Wind arrangement and solos are as always, exhilarating and bring with them a special dynamic to the piece. Andy's bass, solid and sometimes unpredictable and bringing his unique style throughout. So thank you to both for bringing my piece alive and it's my pleasure and honour as always to share with you.

Billions Of Years From Now came about as I pondered this endless plight of humanity, and the apparent possibilities of our extinction by our own hands, which does seem diametrically opposed to our oft benign nature, especially during crises. These aren’t original ideas, as so many others throughout history have thought about this as well. To Love The World Anyway is a phrase that asks us to care about the world even in difficult times, through personal hardship and suffering, by accepting the world as it is. When I first heard this phrase, I laughed at its apparent, naive folly. Over the years though, as I cared for plants and animals, and helped others (often begrudgingly)… I was slowly learning about what loving the world anyway really means. It is kinda like weathering a storm, while simultaneously balancing anger and frustration with compassion and unconditional love. Being a parent has taught me a lot about this as well. In other news… we just endured a powerful winter blizzard, with heavy snow, and strong winds that caused a lot of snow drifting. The best drift in the yard was in my driveway. It is 4 feet deep. After the storm blew through, the temps dropped to well below zero. I was outside shoveling for a good part of the day. A neighbor with a backhoe was plowing out our drifted-in road, and was making a few 15 foot piles of snow along the way. Some of us were essentially snowed in. There are thick ice jams on the roof which have revealed another place I’ll need to patch this spring. During the winter, I usually go up on the roof and shovel the deep snow off of it. Later that day, I put extra forage out for the animals, and noticed one rabbit had holed up underneath an old couch I have outside on the porch. The local elk herd (Wapiti) is down out of the mountains now. The herd can be seen in the hay fields just down the road from here. They head for the windswept, south facing knolls, and it is fascinating to see how they survive in this harsh climate. Once in a late night blizzard, I had to stop on the road, and was engulfed in the elk herd as they passed by. There were a hundred or so in the herd. Well, hope you like this song. Self taught musician whenever I was a bored child. I enjoy playing everything except for reeded/woodwind or the french horn. I do have many solo songs embedded in my collection but anything with parentheses is a collaboration or working with others. The Eclectic Collective, which is often listed after songs, is a tight knit collection of studio musicians spanning the globe.
