French label Sweet Musique is about to release two various artists compilations – 'Day Tales' and its counterpart 'Night Tales' - to close its successful year. Both compilations unite a wide spectrum of electronic music's sub-genres as well as artists, who either have released on the label or make their debut. One artist, whose year has been as successful as the label's as he released several well-received EPs, tracks and remixes on renowned labels such as Exit Strategy, Multinotes or MoBlack is Santiago Garcia, who contributes two tracks, 'Wait A Minute' and 'Apes On Mars', to both of the compilations. After 'Apes On Mars' was premiered last week it is now time to get a proper listen to Santiago's second track 'Wait A Minute', which will be part of the 'Day Tales' compilation. The track covers a slightly more rhythmically influenced approach that represents the artist's vitality and in the course of the track is enriched with Spanish guitar sounds. Thus 'Wait A Minute' does just what the track title suggest the listener to do: slow down, give yourself to the music and enjoy the moment.

EXCLUSIVE: Santiago Garcia - Wait A Minute [Sweet Musique]

Italian imprint Nothing Is Real, has a new seven-track compilation showcasing some of the best up-and-coming artists involved with the label. This release marks a celebration of the second year of Nothing Is Real and of their steady rise as one of the most exciting new labels on the scene. 

This project has been painstakingly curated by Modular Project, the techno production duo responsible for the label. A core tenet of the label is their synth-driven, forward-thinking, emotional music, which merge the genres of techno, indie, electronica and 80s New Wave.

The release is opened by Modular Project themselves with ‘Nothing Is Real’, which begins as a minimal and ethereal introduction to the project that offsets a driven techno beat with playful retro synthscapes, creating a suspenseful and uplifting killer of a track.

Raised in Solingen, brothers Marius & Fabian found a mutual love for house and disco music from an early age. Through the realization that music connects them in a special way, they started putting on local parties and soon after delved into their own productions. The duo eventually received support from the Kittball Records family appearing on their Ibiza Global Radio show multiple times before signing to ZEHN Records. Their 'City of Belem' EP kick starts 2019 for the ZEHN Records imprint which is set to be yet another productive year for the label following releases from Modul Kollektiv, Los Cabra, Deniz Kabu & Wolfson and Daniel Rateuke.

The EP acts as a tribute to their South American trip a few years back and takes in an array of influences from that journey. Kicking off with 'City of Belem' which maintains typical ZEHN Records aesthetics of organic percussive offerings, journey filled atmospherics and alleviating melodies before delicate synth fluctuations, undulating low end and wonderful euphoric break downs take the focus in 'Tapana's Kitchen'.

To k​ick off 2019, Kincaid makes his debut on the label: the EP is the first in a string of exceptional music to come this year.

The four track EP kicks off in style with ​On The Back Of A Serpent​. An Italo-tinged number with Kincaid's trademark live sounding drum programming. It’s an instant club rocker with trippy vocal snippets that draw the listener into an ethereal, spine tingling breakdown. ​Stare Into My Monstera begins with a driving groove and dissonant Rhodes, building subtly but relentlessly towards a euphoric Nord lead motif which reappears throughout. A track that will undoubtedly find favour with the discerning Burner crowd. ​Papoose starts with middle eastern influenced sounds and insistent Timpani accents, before locking into a groove which hypnotises and intrigues in equal measure. Finally ​It Said (feat. Sinàl) is a darker affair featuring the sinister vocals of both Kincaid and Sinàl themselves. A ‘lights off / strobe on’ growler, this is one for fans of late night trippy moments - and further displays the diverse number of styles which Kincaid is becoming well known for.

Kincaid may be a fresh face to many but those in the know will be familiar with his unique brand of diverse and genre bending sounds. Breaking through in 2018, notable highlights include a debut release on Moscoman’s Disco Halal and an EP on Sabo’s Sol Selectas plus a plethora of support from titans of the scene; Rampa and &Me, Jennifer Cardini, The Juan MacLean, Roman Flügel, all the way to Dixon and Âme, who opened their Innervisions show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall with his remix of Blancmange’s ​What’s The Time​.

Diego Hdez on the latest Golden Bug x In Fields EP, out on one of the most eclectic labels out there 'Les disques de la mort', had the strongest reconstruction by the renowned Fantastic Twins.  Heavy machine like electric bass provides a darkwave heartbeat for a John Carpenter, Lynch-esq film montage piece with an organic presence, dark and richly steeped in reverb. Tribal elements combine with hypnotic synths, providing a sexy counterpoint to ethereal vocals, seeing a strong development across the track making it a definite highlight for slower dark disco sets and dancefloors. The best positive vibes from a french musician and a multicultural artist in collaboration with the London duo and the the version of the most attractive twins of the planet.

Sometimes we meet people who play just a solo instrument and may be even not professionally. But their desire to create a melody without any rules is overcoming the obstacles. We don't know - "yes" or "no" - in such cases but instead just follow the energy we feel. Nota Fools is just like this - a guy was playing a guitar all the time and then he saw a synth in our studio... That was a show we would say. So FREE.D joined this guy for playing synths and then guitar, and then again synths. They even read some poetry after... in Russian... Wild things happened. 

And now there is a 2 track EP we want to release because... Never mind. We just like this story.

Our beloved friends from Amsterdam-based Sinchi Collective open up a new chapter with the start of a record label! The new not-for-profit label will pledge the profits from each release to a hand-picked charity and kicks off with a fresh single from Leonor, featuring remixes from Curses and Sascha Funke. Profits from the first release will be benefiting The International Elephant Foundation, an NGO which focuses on protecting the severely endangered Asian elephant and the threatened African elephant.

The artist behind Sinchi Music's debut release is Leonor, who contributes a fantastic single littered with the sound of jungle wildlife, indigenous percussion, tribal vocal chants and loose house drums. We've the pleasure of airing the rework of Kompakt and Hippie Dance mainstay Sascha Funke - a flailing and unhinged house track with a giant rasping bassline and trippy synth details.

Even though the Berliner by choice has only been producing music for a bit more than two years, Ede has made quite an impression on the electronic music scene. With releases on Jennifer Cardini's label Correspondant, TAU and as part of Innervisions' Secret Weapons compilation, the artist has found top-notch output-platforms for his music. Having already new music in the pipe it's safe to say that we will hear quite a lot from this promising and uprising artist, whose music was and is inspired by famous Berlin night club Panoramabar, which strongly changed Ede's life and his artistical being. In an up close interview with Torture the Artist the DJ and producer gives some deep and interesting insights into his life as an artist, reveals details about his releationship with Âme, why his track on the Secret Weapons compilation is called 'Jenny' and what he has given up on in order to live his dream.
