MÖWE is a recently founded project by the Vienna based artists Mel and Clemens, who previously played together in the band Mary lost her Pathos. While the duo’s indie roots still shine through in the song writing, MÖWE’s sound is largely electronic and best described as melodious and emotionally uplifting. Here, on SVT119, they present two of their outstanding productions, while Björn Störig contributes a beefy remix. 	

The title track ‘Inside’ focuses on harmonic piano and guitar hooks that float over a bouncing beat and crisp percussion. As the duo’s heartbreakingly beautiful vocals climax in a bass-driven chorus, we find ourselves lost in a sea of bewitching sound. ‘Seven Days’ is then introduced by delayed vox and drops into an airy arrangement backed-up by Mel and Clem’s longing voices. Stunning! Lastly, SVT mainstay Björn Störig gives ‘Seven Days’ the dance floor treatment by pitching down the original’s vocals and laying them over an elastic deep house bassline.

Founded in 2009 and going into its 5th year of existence the Hamburg-based label hfn music has evolved into an established name within the field in between the Indie-and club scene.

Thirty releases strong the label has become a firm home for a string of artists and ever since has been keeping an eye out for amazing talent. The results are pretty clear: the great and ever busy Kasper Bjørke has released two excellent albums ('Standing On Top Of Utopia' & 'Fool' ) and a massive remix compilation via hfn music whilst outstanding acts like Darkness Falls, Human Woman and Reptile Youth all debuted with hfn to international acclaim. 

Not to forget the allover success of the label's initial release - Trentemøller's legendary mix compilation 'Harbour Boat Trips 01 - Copenhagen' which still is referred to as all-time favourite from various sides of the musical spectrum. And it is Anders Trentemøller himself who runs the highly successful hfn music sister label In My Room as an exclusive outfit for his very own musical vision.

With this musical backing hfn music's plans are set for 2014 and with the brand new seven track compilation 'dock 1' we are proud to introduce and serve not only selected and exclusive material for your listening pleasure but also our extended hfn music artist roster for the very first time.

Apart from Darkness Falls, Kasper Bjørke and Ebb who are recently working on new albums, we're sending a warm welcome to our new signings and family members Faded Ranger, Fangs, Gry and Small Mountain, which are lined up for forthcoming releases and/or collaborations in the future.

FLOSSTRADAMUS - DROP TOP FEAT. TRAVIS PORTER

EVOL is the third studio album by American alternative rock band Sonic Youth, released in 1986 on SST Records, and recorded and mixed by Martin Bisi. The album cover features a picture of Lung Leg, a still taken from Submit to Me, a film by Richard Kern. The album is notable for being the first with new drummer Steve Shelley, replacing Bob Bert, and for showing signs of the band transitioning away from their noise-rock past and toward a greater rock sensibility. It was the first album by the band released on the SST  label. By 1986, label founder Greg Ginn was anxious for SST to move away from its American hardcore roots, and signing Sonic Youth was an undeniably important step for the label, as well as for the band.

The record marks the second straight for the band in which it had worked with New York singer/performance artist Lydia Lunch. Lunch had shared vocal duties on Bad Moon Rising's "Death Valley '69" and on this record she co-wrote the tune "Marilyn Moore". "Shadow of a Doubt" takes a great part of its lyrical imagery from the Hitchcock film Strangers on a Train: "Met a stranger on a train/you'll kill him and I'll kill her/swear it wasn't meant to be".

Mike Watt played bass on the track "In the Kingdom #19". The band encouraged him to play it shortly after the fellow bandmember D. Boon of Minutemen died in a car crash. Coincidentally, the song is also about a car crash.

On the vinyl format of the album, the time length for "Expressway to Yr. Skull" was indicated by the symbol for infinity; the final moment of the song featured a locked groove, making it theoretically endless. The CD format added a bonus track: the band's cover of the Kim Fowley tune "Bubblegum". According to Mike Watt, he and Steve Shelley played the basic rhythm track over the actual Kim Fowley record, which was afterwards removed when the other members added their parts. [1]

One single, a radio edit of "Star Power", was released from the album, with "Bubblegum" and an edited "Expressway to Yr. Skull" as B-sides.

With subject matter ranging from the hobbies of terrorists' children to the absurd chorus of "salami salami salami salaam aleikum", it's probably good for Shidlas' personal safety that nobody can interpret what he's saying. If the Monty Python guys could figure it out, they'd probably have a good laugh.
We will be honest, if you don't speak Lithuanian (only 3 million people do) then you are missing out on the full force of the Shidlas lyrical circus. You'll also need Italian, German, Arabic and a sense of humour to fully appreciate this anarchic new-european culturemash, but there's no need to worry, just relax and enjoy the pitch-perfect articulation.
All his vocal innovation is woven into equally eclectic and entertaining instrumentals, cooked up by Lowvibe chef Genys. The vibe is musically true to the Jamaican roots of the project, but Shidlas and Genys have thrown out the rulebook, creating a reggae fusion style that a new generation can move their feet to, throwing in sounds from dubstep, electro, hiphop and outer space.
As Shidlas so eloquently asks, "What are coffee roasters' children doing?"
