Cello Girls is a project of artist/cellist Emily Kocken and producer/philosopher Jacco Prantl inspired by avant garde cellist Charlotte Moorman. Moorman was part of the Fluxus art movement and did groundbreaking work which involves confronting protocols around performance and interpretation of classical music. Her work is a brave confrontation of questions involving the female body, the performer and the role of the muse.

Our project consists of manipulating the form of classical tracks. This starts with the studio performances of the classical cello pieces by Bach, Britten, and Brahms. These studio recordings were mangled into new compositions by the use of samplers and analogue audio equipment.

The vinyl record will be released on the 27th of October in C&H Gallery in Amsterdam, and on the 4th of November in Concerto Amsterdam.
