Loonaloop Bio 2017
With 12 European tours under their belt Loonaloop have been tagged  the “Globe trotting troubadours of cosmic electronica.” As a live electronic act, Loonaloop’s standout attraction is in their selection of unique instrumentation.  Weaving powerful vocals, violin that dances between hair-raising melodies to dirty & driving lines, pumping didgeridoo riffs and dynamic live drums enhanced with programming & electronic gismos.  
Loonaloop’s live set mixes it up with touches of drum n bass, tribal trance, world music, electro dub and gypsy house.  Executed with a high-octane engaging performance, Loonaloop have earnt a reputation as dance floor and festival favorites. With the release of their 5th Album in July 2017 Loonaloop have a huge pool of tracks to draw from and the ability to respond intuitively to diverse audiences. 
The core of Loonaloop, Shiney Lefai & Andy Byrnes, emerged out of U.K live trance band "Tribal Drift" which was a pioneering act in the early 90’s London and U.K live Trance music scene...and was  at the very head of introducing didjeridoo into dance music. After returning to Aus., in 2003, they started a new project "Loonaloop” diversifying into multi genres of dance music.
Ever since the Loonaloop tribe have toured all over the globe, playing some of the finest festivals out there.  Invited back 7 times to the world-renowned Glastonbury Fest in U.K they have also done a variety of festivals including Dance Valley (NL), Tribal Elek (France), Didj n Bass (Austria), Heart Festival (Austria) and numerous in Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Scotland, UK, Poland and more.

With a one-man-band live approach featuring percussive elements of 6 & 9-string acoustic guitars, kick drum, tambourine and harmonica, Victorian based Australian Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist Matt Katsis has taken to audiences far and wide with the ease and merit that parallel’s his music - a Bluesman at heart, an avid wanderer reflecting troubadour tradition, albeit delicate folk ballads to foot stomping slide guitar driven down-home blues swagger.

Since early‭ ‬2011,‭ ‬I have been filling my little car with my cajon,‭ ‬resonator,‭ ‬acoustic guitar,‭ ‬harmonica,‭ ‬mandolin,‭ ‬and capos,‭ ‬and journeying to find people and places I can lay all my heartfelt songs before.‭ ‬I have learned to become self-sufficient,‭ ‬including recording and hand crafting CDs.‭ ‬I even made a bed in my car so I could free up myself for opportunities‭ ‬-‭ ‬sleeping with my instruments in random darkened streets and wooded lanes all over Europe. 

I’m a contemporary troubadour,‭ ‬offering my songs in a way that allows our stories to mingle.‭ ‬I’m not trying to show off my music,‭ ‬rather use it as a way to connect.‭ ‬It’s about response,‭ ‬not payment.‭ ‬It’s about being moved,‭ ‬rather than entertained.

Everything I do is done for free,‭ ‬and with a hat laid down I ask‭ ‘‬Pay What You Feel‭’‬.‭ ‬The wonderful thing is that people do give and I have been able to keep going.‭ ‬But it is not only money people respond with,‭ ‬and over the years I have collected so many beautiful,‭ ‬touching trinkets and offerings in response to what I have offered.

Limiting your life to a car or a cabin,‭ ‬eating the cheapest food you can find,‭ ‬sourcing your clothes from the boxes people are throwing away,‭ ‬and sleeping in a car where the windows ice up on the inside during cold months can be challenging.‭ ‬But it is worth it for all the stories I have found,‭ ‬all those beautiful colours that have mixed with mine,‭ ‬making my colour so much more vibrant and rich with each tour. 
