A piece I wrote for the 2021 Slow Game Jam, the music was partly inspired by the wonderful Joe Hisaishi.

I wrote this music for an earlier build of the game as a concept for the battle music.  As development continued I began collaborating with the wonderful Jared Emerson-Johnson to create a hybrid approach for the score, integrating both orchestral instruments and synths.  We went on to create music together which would replace this earlier battle concept.  

For this piece I was inspired by JRPG battle music, such as the Final Fantasy series.  My personal favorite part is around 1:05 - I enjoy the contrast between the short bows in the cellos and the sweeping line in the violins and trumpet.  The piano and harp repeatedly play the first part of the main theme melody before developing in a different direction.  Then everything slows down and transitions into a final duet between the trumpet and the horn.

Combination of glitch, heavy synth drone and piano for backup.  Had fun using Oatmeal to rev up the synth ;)
Issues with volume during mastering process, synth is a little over powering.

80m - Where You Belong

Since 1996 JACITM as Just Another Cog in the Machine/JAC in the Machine has been my writing & side project moniker.

I started my dabble in home DAW production back in 2012 at the behest of another Industrial/EDM production friend when he told me about ReNoise.

All tracks prior from 2012 to 2014 were created using Renoise v2.6 through v2.8.1 From 4/2014 to 3/2019, I've used ReNoise v3.0 and ReNoise Redux. Started using Reason 11 in 2020, then Ableton 11 and Reason 13 in 2024.

2012 to Present: I'd like to thank the Users from the Renoise Forums. I'm sad to see it go silent after so many years of contribution but a heavy lot of you have contributed greatly to my continued interest in music with your shares, your input, your samples/glitches and modified UI's. I'll be forever grateful to all of you, Programmers, Aficionados and Musicians alike.  The people there were among a small handful of the best forum communities I've ever come across in the past 25 years and to me, that says a lot about the people that helped create it.
