Biography: 
Paula (the Bard) McKernan has loved stories and making music for as long as she can remember. Over a decade ago, she ventured back to guitar and began studying and performing at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Today she thrives and teaches there furthering her mission to “make more harmony.” In 2011, she co-led the Evanston Girl Scouts SING! and soon began creating personalized workshops for troops. After finding a new guitar with a song in it, she started writing music again (finishing long mused upon topics) and recorded her first album, Slices of Peach in 2013. These joyful experiences led to performing for local venues, retirement homes, women’s events, and a CD release party. Her sonorous vocals and musical style contain elements of jazz, folk, blues and something she calls “chick rock.” Paula’s love of words and voice, and her lilting melodies, inverted chords, and often humorous lyrics meld together to create unique songs.
