Whenever we get a new Doctor, I make a new theme arrangement that captures my feelings about the show's current state and the direction I'd like to see it take next. This is what "The Reality War" and the Fifteenth Doctor's regeneration has spawned.

My intention with this arrangement was to return to the eeriness of Delia Derbyshire's original and amplify it even more. I wanted it to be the sort of theme tune that would fit a series of "claustrophobic ghost stories," which seems to be the direction we're heading in. As much as I've enjoyed the bombast and fun of Murray Gold's 2023 arrangement, I wanted to pare things down to the bare essentials: the hypnotic bassline and chilling melody that have intrigued generations of viewers.

And as always, I'm a champion for bringing back the '70s opening arrangement; there's nothing better than that looping wail echoing through the Time Vortex to draw you into a Doctor Who adventure...

This is a retooling of one of the tracks from DC Comics' "Black Canary" EP. The original was one of 3 tracks which was a tie-in to their recent series.

I messed with the pitch and tempo, amongst some other things, to give the song a little more drive. I think it works, but I'll let the public decide.
