I am the Doctor - Für Alex Remix

This is a theme concept I've been working on recently, for a longer titles sequence for DOCTOR WHO. I was picturing something akin to the opening titles of HBO's HIS DARK MATERIALS, a journey through the story and images you see throughout the series. Something similar could be really fun for Who, taking you across the universe and back again in just 90 seconds!

The throwback '70s logo and Ncuti Gatwa's retro wardrobe inspired me to look to the Jon Pertwee/Tom Baker theme for inspiration; the synth parts draw on that rendition, with the distorted melody, detuned pitch, and looping "wail" at the end. 

On top of that, I added a Murray Gold-style orchestral accompaniment, drawing on his arrangements from 2005-17, but also adding a few flourishes of my own!

DOCTOR WHO Series 14 - Theme Concept

I've been on another theme kick lately! I wanted to try my hand at recreating the Series 1 theme since it's the only one of Murray's themes that didn't use a live orchestra. (And it helps that it's also my favorite of his, haha)
I recreated both the opening and closing title arrangements here. The main synth used was Hive by u-he, and the orchestral samples are from the free Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra library. 
Keep an eye out for a "full" theme arrangement at some point, with a Series 1-style middle-eight. Stay tuned!

Expanding on the Series 1 recreation I shared recently, I tried my hand at making a "full" version of the arrangement, including Murray Gold's favorite part, the middle-eight! There's two different variants of it in here, so make sure to listen to the end ;)

Twelves Final Stand

A cover of the Doctor Who Theme! This one is highly inspired by Dominic Glynn's 1986 version and Murray Gold's 2014 version, with a little bit of Peter Howell's towards the end. 

This is technically my 4th attempt at making a cover of this theme, but only the second one I finished, and I am actually satisfied with this one. It was really fun to make!

Doctor Who Theme - Saxophone Cover | (By Murray Gold)

Whenever we get a new Doctor, I make a new theme arrangement that captures my feelings about the show's current state and the direction I'd like to see it take next. This is what "The Reality War" and the Fifteenth Doctor's regeneration has spawned.

My intention with this arrangement was to return to the eeriness of Delia Derbyshire's original and amplify it even more. I wanted it to be the sort of theme tune that would fit a series of "claustrophobic ghost stories," which seems to be the direction we're heading in. As much as I've enjoyed the bombast and fun of Murray Gold's 2023 arrangement, I wanted to pare things down to the bare essentials: the hypnotic bassline and chilling melody that have intrigued generations of viewers.

And as always, I'm a champion for bringing back the '70s opening arrangement; there's nothing better than that looping wail echoing through the Time Vortex to draw you into a Doctor Who adventure...
