A quick piano improvisation developed with some strings and a bit of thunder for some atmosphere.

The Smell of Rain

The Little Sonata started out as a selection of advanced miniatures for Alto Sax and piano written for my mother. The aim was to produce around 9 movements, 1 to 2 mins each. However, during the composition, my mum decided to stop playing due to health, so I decided to stop composing, leaving me with 3 complete miniatures. Together, they form a short but complex solo work. 

This version is an arrangement for solo Clarinet and Orchestra (strings with optional wind parts).

Yellow Thunder

The Dead’s Dance was written for the Bangor University Music Society Orchestra, and was played in 2019. It is supposed to depict the dead rising from their grave, only to have a ball, and dance the night away!

Premiered by the Bangor New Music Ensemble at Bangor Music Festival 2019.
Subsequently performed by members of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at Hoddinott Hall: Grace Williams Studio, and at Bangor Music Festival 2024 (Mvt. 2).
