This is the only 3/4 timed song on the album. Because of this, I knew it had to be as simple as possible. There are three instruments. And barely any harmonies until the very end. I wanted the feeling of nakedness and vulnerability, because to me, this is my saddest song.
I still cry when I listen to it.

Musically, I wrote it a year ago with the kid that I babysit. We found a chord progression he could play on the ukelele, and it ended up being so beautiful I kept it. I have about 4 different songs sung to this exact tune. But I didn't think any of the lyrics or subjects were perfect enough so I waited.
But sure enough on a very specific day of the year that typically is dark for me came and the song found its purpose. I usually have a chorus, but the tune didn't warrant one. It was technically written after the album was finalized, but I refuse to let it go. So here it is.

This is a song I wrote about a guy named Bobby, whose jacket I found at a thrift store. This song is entirely about the things I was able to dig up about him on the internet. Interesting, right? A man's jacket lead to his yearbook which lead to this very song. 
Musically I wanted it to tell a catchy story. The jacket, though not a letterman, is still a high school jacket. Which made me feel very "high school cheerleader" sort of dance type of song. Old school. I wanted to keep that old school feeling and make it a little more modern. 
This song was written before I found out that Bobby is still alive!
As for Mary Jane, well, we just don't know.

Thank you to Bobby Tildwell of TN. Who still lives. And for the sick jacket. Which I refuse to give back which is why I haven't responded to your email....
