“We met at a bar called La Perla in Austin — a timelessly ramshackle Tejano bar where you get bad vibed by old cholos and construction workers until you sort of ‘earn your stripes’ and then they love you like a brother — and bonded over our mutual adoration of Elysia Crampton. She totally birthed the gestalt of what we do. We are forever in her shadow."

"We’re also both fans of Suicide, Demdike Stare, Ariel Camacho, Can, Valentin Elizalde, Corridos Tumbados, Sonidero, James Ferraro, Big Black, Tejano, Norteño, Scott Walker, funk, jazz, ambient, but we pretty much look for a feeling rather than a sound or genre." 

"It’s kind of dispossessed, bittersweet — haunted and yearning. Norteño and Tejano are extremely nostalgia-based. Insane nostalgia. It seems to be the only feeling Mexicans are caught on. Like crying while dancing, filled with a deep understanding of how fleeting a good time is. " 

"We’ve been playing music for around four years now, nonstop, but only started doing shows more consistently around two years ago. Before that we’d just play in the studio for ourselves, making proper eviscerated Tejano and experimenting with abstraction."   

"I like to describe what we do as a sustained and perpetual psychic handshake. It’s not always music or writing. A lot of times we’ll just vibe out to statistics and lore from the zones we’re from and greater Texas. The tangle of lifestyles and lifetimes and realms of the border areas.
