Wow. I love this piece. Very emotive. I love how the strings create a range of long chords and the percussive sections that contrast this. Very effective. :)

Lyrics by Jónas Hallgrímsson, a 19th century Icelandic poet. This song illustrates the vanity of all we work for here on earth. The title of the poem, Strit, is an Icelandic word meaning "toil." Enjoy the harmonies constructed from altered scales, giving this work an ethereal, mysterious quality.

English translation:
The sun climbs
from cool streams
of eastern seas
to oust the night.
What long drudgery
for a light-bringer —
unpacking this foolish
planet from darkness!

Sun! while your bright
beams are conquering
half of the world
in heaven's service,
loosing legions
of light everywhere —
in the east the night
always pursues you.

Sturdy Sisyphus
strains at his rock,
the Danaids' jar
drips forever,
and earth whirls herself
endlessly
out of light
and into darkness.
