DEEP 'N' DOPE RECORDS is an independent record label specialising in Deep, Classic and Chicago style House and Garage. DEEP 'N' DOPE RECORDS are passionate about the music they release and are excited to sign and release productions from Late Nite 'DUB' Addict, Freak Inside, Minimal Criminal & Alter Boy.

Dan Smith's interest in music production started when he was studying music at school where he discovered a Korg MS-20 in a store room.  He liked the fat analog sound that this now classic instrument made.  He also played with a double tape recorder and started producing edits of B sides using only samples from his record collection. 

He eventually saved up enough money to buy a pair of Technics 1200's and a mixer.  He then added to his record collection over the years and was influenced in the early 90's by the likes of Rhythm Quest, Love Decade, Shades of Rhythm, Dream Frequency, Prodigy, Altern-8 and SL2.

He enjoyed weekends at raves during the 90's and frequented the Zone nights held at The Venue (Blackpool), The Mill (Preston) and Pecoda (Carlisle).  More locally he enjoyed Friday nights at The Old Hall (Egremont).  These nights fronted Italian House music which has also influced his tracks featuring artists S-Cape, New Atlantic and many more.  Having studied Music GCSE Dan was lucky enough to spend some time in the studio on a relatively primitive Atari ST.  This opened his eyes to the world of computer music.  

Currently Dan uses Reason by Propellerhead and Recycle.  He has a studio in his house where he produces Progressive and Piano House Music with an Old School vibe.  He produces under the guise of 'British House Consortium' and has released some of his material on You Tube under the label Black Box Recordings which he is in the process of establishing with fellow producer Tony James.  Tony James has had airplay on Dave Pearce's Radio 6 show. 

As well as his own projects Dan has collaborated with Tony James under the name (Luv 4 Money) gaining some success with the single 'I wont tell'.  Dan and Tony plan to release some more work on their label and would like to receive more exposure through You Tube and Soundcloud with the vision to sign to an establised record label. 

As a side project Dan has written material for advertisements and has worked on tracks with vocalists.  He continues to produce House Music and alternative genres under the guise 'British House Consortium'.  Dan would like to thank everyone who has listened to, commented on and downloaded his tracks.
