Jordan Balaber ( b.1992, Washington DC ) is an American composer, producer and guitarist based in Queens, New York. 

Balaber's recorded work has received acclaim on Mary Anne Hobb’s “Sunriser” series, The Quietus, The Guardian, Dummy, and NTS Radio, where he contributed a guest mix in October 2017 with PAN-affiliated producer Ling and Kepla. Previously Jordan was a founding member of Liverpool-based experimental pop trio Ninetails, releasing 'Quiet Confidence' in 2014 on Pond Life Songs, notable for its release or several late-career Talk Talk records. The release premiered on Dummy Magazine and was described as a "genreless, pure love of sound", and appeared at #44 on the Skinny's "Albums of 2014" list. The band will be releasing their long-gestating follow-up album, “Faixa”, in 2025.

Balaber has since collaborated extensively with cellist and composer Lester St. Louis. They performed a work for guitars and sine tones at St. Louis's TRANSFER//01 showcase at Roulette in December 2020. From 2016, Jordan has worked closely with the Brussels-based choreographer Nikima Jadugajev, composing live sonic environments built from looped fragments of popular song and intimate field recordings for her extensive live performances. Their collaboration has developed in residencies at museums and galleries including the Bergen Kunsthall ( Bergen, Norway ), Kurimanzutto ( CDMX ), Material Art Fair ( CDMX ) Centre d'Art Contemporain Geneve ( Geneva, Switzerland ), Human Resources (LA), the Whitney Museum of American Art (NYC), MoMA PS1 (NYC), Judson Church ( NYC ), and Cathy Weis Studios ( NYC ).

In 2020, his collaborative work with Jagudajev evolved to include “mutable” scored music for guitarists and Ableton operators. The two contributed a mixtape, "You're Welcome", containing original material, to Mostyn Gallery's Montez Press Radio that year. Additionally, 2020 saw the creation of a vinyl record, "Basically", which Balaber composed and produced in collaboration with Jagudajev and St. Louis, containing two original recorded works commissioned by Scott Elliot of the Bergen Kunsthall and co-sponsored by the Creative Europe Programme of the EU as an accompaniment to Jagudajev’s residency at the Kunsthall.

Balaber collaborated with Nick Podgurski ( Extra Life, GRID ) in 2023 on Podgurski’s album “Significance”, under Podgurski’s Feast of the Epiphany moniker. Balaber has worked on several film projects as both a composer and sound designer. He works as an audio engineer at several performing arts venues around New York City.
