Born atop the forgotten ruins of a crumbling city, a new civilization had emerged from the ruin wrought by demonkind upon the landscape that lay beneath them. Lead by their prophets of a new and powerful faith, the people of this civilization had risen up against the demon kings, wielding the magic of their divine allies as weapons with which to exorcise their being once more from the land. This war though hard fought had born fruit, and with the slaying of the final demon the people had rejoiced, celebrating their victories with monumental constructions to mark the beginning of a new and golden era. Foremost of these was the great cathedral that lay at the heart of their new city, built both as a space of worship for the populace and as an eternal ward of imprisonment for the souls of demonkind which could not be slain, forever condemning them to an incorporeal existence under the watchful eye of the divine.

Ages had passed since then, and time had once again ground its steady edge against the minds of the people and upon the stones and timbers that had supported the great city for so long. Ritual had been forgotten, and structures of greater grandeur had been built as the city expanded, relegating it’s once monumental cathedral to neglect. Thus it was that the falling of only a single candle had lit an aged timber in it’s great hall, in so doing weakening the ancient wards that had kept the demonic spirits at bay. Ever vigilant in their ceaseless desire to escape, the demon kings fanned this flame with their focused ire, nurturing it from a single mote into a overwhelming conflagration that tore at the runic chains that had bound them for so long. Before long, the roaring of the flames was augmented by the howls of demonic spirits set free from a millennia of imprisonment, their visages taking form in the fire as manifestations of their burning rage. As the inferno bellowed ever higher, the city cowered in fear, for it was clear that the time of DIVERGENCE had come once more.

EATBRAIN unleashes the full fury of their horde with the fourth installment in their DIVERGENCE compilation series, a gargantuan 26 track compilation filled to the brim with new tracks from EATBRAIN mainstays and newcomers alike. Brought together by their affinities for EATBRAIN’s unrestrained neurofunk sound, the artists within deliver a tour de force of the label’s guiding philosophy with ferocious basslines and terrifying sonic atmospheres alike, delivering a mammoth series of tracks set to inspire the fervor of the label’s horde in the months to come.

Within the palm of the galaxy’s outstretched arms lies a veritable jewel of a world, supporting a rich and eclectic biosphere filled with both flora and fauna blessed with preternatural abilities by the benevolent grace of cosmic luck. Their homeworld’s existence within concentric rings of galactic and solar habitable zones bestows these beings with a countenance of primal grandeur, setting them apart from the other species spread across the galaxy on account of the singular strangeness of their existence. Chief amongst the denizens of this distant world is the spectacular Kahnao, a quadrupedal beast known for bearing forth a most sonorous vocalization.

With a snout resembling the brass horn instruments often found amongst the ancient cultures of humanoid worlds, the Kahnao’s facade hints immediately to the viewer about its primary purpose. With their population spread in small groups across the vast savannas of their homeworlds, the Kahnao have developed a method of communication that allows them to send messages across distances unmatched by the inborn abilities of any galactic species. Thanks to a vocal tract that runs almost the entire length of their bodies, the Kahnao are able to generate infrasonic frequencies that are amplified as they resonate along the string-like appendages that protrude from their mouths. The subtle differences in the bodies of each member of the species create a different chordal signature, a harmony unique to their form that serves as a communicative signature, identifying them to others across the endless grassland expanses of their home. It is said that when the Kahnao herds speak to each other in their great assemblies the entire planet’s surface reverberates in response, as these unique LIFEFORMS create a sonic experience that is without equal anywhere else within the galaxy.

L 33 returns to EATBRAIN with four alien sonic sequences that are replete with thunderous low-end frequencies which call the label’s widespread horde to attention before his latest offering, an EP that he titles “LIFEFORMS”. Within, the EATBRAIN veteran charts new territory for his productions while continuing to deliver the signature sonics that found him purchase on the label many orbital cycles ago, delivering a novel twist on his much beloved stylistic center across the EP’s four tracks.

Deep within the shifting sands lay the remains of a once great city, a monument to the hubris of those who had once thought they could conquer the indomitable forces of the planet. To hold back the everpresent encroachment of the dunes they had raised walls of great heights, built upon the sacrifice of those least fortunate among them, those condemned to work beneath the blistering heat of the land. It was through their blood that the city was built, through their blood that the fortunate lived in such an otherwise inhospitable climate. As the death of these sacrifices increased however, they bore new life elsewhere. Their blood, seeping through the cracked desert soil, awakened something long since sealed away.

Fed by their misery, the creature’s power grew beneath the dunes. For each that fell it became stronger, its hunger rising as it tasted more and more that which had been denied to it for so long. Upon the night of the sun’s peak it rose, driven by the heat that still radiated from the earth. It was a malstrom of sand, fire, and bone, an amalgamation of destruction which surged across the landscape. What little life there was in this desolate place was subsumed into its maw, becoming a part of the dynamo which swept towards the city. Its winds battered against the walls, grinding their stones to dust which only furthered the creature’s power. In minutes it had broken through, and as the city was swallowed within the vortex the DUST DEVIL reclaimed for the desert what was its own once again.

MIZO returns to EATBRAIN with the release of DUST DEVIL, a five track EP featuring collaborations with TRILO & CHASER. DOUBLE RUSH features the powerful combination of MIZO & CHASER, as well as the combination of a frantic topline and charging bass which work together to move the track forwards at a rapid pace. DUST DEVIL whips this dynamic energy into a further frenzy as its basses whirl with unrestrained fury atop a devastating drumbeat. While the gradual approach of HORIZON grows to become a steady lock-step rhythm that soars with effortless aptitude over its arpeggiated bassline, MIZO & TRILO’s ARTIFICIAL NOISE takes a different approach as it leaps into the musical melee, bolstered by the power of its roaring synths.The second collaboration with CHASER, CONTACTLESS, closes the EP, its desolate soundscape quickly transformed into a tech filled groove that rides upon its rolling sub and the strange shiftings of its tonal topline synths. Backed by the powerful Eatbrain platform, DUST DEVIL is sure to soar across the sonic landscape for quite some time.

Vandal - One Million Signals (Kaotik 07)

In 2019 the name JADE is one that has deep respect attached to it in Drum and Bass circles, with his EATBRAIN imprint standing as one of the most highly regarded neurofunk labels around. For the last 5 years, the label has gone from strength to strength, with Jade headlining some of Europe’s largest festivals, such as Boomtown, Dour, NASS, and Let It Roll, and clubs such as London’s infamous FABRIC. His concept and sonic aesthetic has rapidly taken over a vast portion of the European drum and bass scene, extending across the Americas in recent years, establishing a firm and growing fanbase for him in that area of the world.

His belief in the neurofunk genre saw him starting to put out releases under the Eatbrain name in 2011, forging their specific and highly energetic take on dnb at a time where musical trends were moving in other directions. Forward unto now, and his work has affected the sonic landscape drastically – with Eatbrain events occurring regularly across Europe in both packed clubs and vast festival stages. Jade now stands as the head of one of the strongest identities in dnb, armed with an unrequitable urge to continually evolve and push his sound and the sound of his label into evermore dystopian future territories.
 
Hungarian-born Simon Gabor started unleashing his aggressive and forward-thinking style upon the world with ‘GOT LOST’ leading to a string of releases on Citrus Recordings that culminated in his first ‘VENOM’ LP. The tracks within including ‘NO CURE’ and ‘VENOM’ had an ongoing defining effect on the neurofunk genre, and are regarded as timeless classics essential to the history of dnb. Following the establishment of Eatbrain, he further explored the possibilities of the sound with tracks like ‘AUDIO HYPNOSIS’ and ‘SMASH FACE’, but most significantly he started to gather a crew of like-minded producers to release on the label and start the real growth. To date, Eatbrain has featured an impressive roster of artists, including fellow collaborator Mindscape, State of Mind, Teddy Killerz, L 33 and Mefjus just to name a few.
 
Jade emerged once again in the field of incredibly effective production for the dancefloor with the release of ‘RESPIRATOR’ in collaboration with State of Mind and ‘THEY ARE MUTANTS’ featuring on the ‘MIRROR UNIVERSE’ LP project. Since then, Jade has dispatched a pair of absolutely searing manifestos on EATBRAIN with the release of the AWAKE and PROPAGANDA EPs in 2018. These crowned his status as not just the leading figure of one of the most respected dnb labels, but also a true force to be reckoned with in pioneering new forms of tech-driven dnb, as well as transferring those sensibilities to other tempos.

the future is a vast place for Jade and his ability to slay any dancefloor with the vision of Eatbrain. Demand continues to soar exponentially for Eatbrain with every stunning release, and a huge audience of fans waits tensely for what 2019 will bring.
