Depht Mod - Catch The Blue [Disturbed Mutant Series 045]

Ferma is a record label from Athens and has repeatedly called our attention recently; they are coming back with their sixth release, a new addition to the label's catalogue and featuring a Various Artist compilation under the title 'Roll the Bones'. The release is tapping into different styles like electro, wave, and techno, as they host a versatile selection of both Athenian and international artists.

Today we premiere  'Aeithales' by the Greek artist Mavridis, a drums-led track with a melancholic yet dynamic bassline and agonising voices warning us of the imminent danger. Mysterious and emotive, another diamond was added to the Ferma catalogue.

Vous connaissez déjà un des membres du trio, @mimmo_metabaron vous ajoutez les deux autres, Théodore et Antonin et vous obtenez donc DEPHT MOD qui tourne depuis un peu plus de deux ans sur les scènes du grand Ouest du Live88 au Jardin Moderne en passant par la pléthore de bars qui font la scène musicale actuelle.
Abonnés aux impros qui font la marque de leur style, pratiquant l'overdose de musiques synthétiques et de machines, ils s'apprêtent à sortir fin février leur second EP "Catch the Blue".
La track proposée ici, Danza Eterna, débute gentiment sur des sonorités presque italo-disco, mais très vite, on plonge dans une rythmique qui emprunte à l'EBM sa vitesse glaçante. Des contre rythmes animent la structure de la track pendant qu'une voix  robotisée et spectrale semblant surgir du fin fond d'un goulag épaule les envolées qui se font planantes.
Mais c'est vers les profondeurs que nous entraîne définitivement Danza Eterna. Préparez votre pièce en or, Charon s'apprête à vous faire traverser le Styx vers les Enfers. Mais croyez moi, ici, l'enfer est tout sauf brûlant, il développe plutôt les saveurs glaciales de la coldwave.

After 3 blasting releases and a stabbing album under the Techno Thriller sticker, Hoel Moce flies by himself over the valley of the Endless Week-end-ers.
Here is his solo project, recorded at home during autumn in french Britany, the project is named after the Land of the Damned according to the vernacular local legends : the Yeun Elez.

Mixed by Luc Bersier (Reymour - Knekelhuis) and mastered by the almighty Seb Normal, the artworks are made of 6 woodcuts realized by Hoel himself while recording. This debut album is a manifesto for the artist. Hoel invites through these 10 Dark-Folkish tracks, Current93, Coil or Throbbing Gristle, “Les Maitres Fous” from the ethnographic director Jean Rouch in the middle of the “Hard To Be A God” from the russian medievist : Alexeï Guerman.

Illustrated by his talented woodcutting skills during the recording sessions and inked then manually, it's a 2x5 pages booklet which envelops 100 Chrome tapes available to preorder.

For the second output of e s p e r p e n t o, Francesco Baudazzi evokes his enigmatic and esoteric side project Violet Poison after being part of the first Various Artists release as Red Lodge.
ESPER002. includes 5 original tracks plus a stomper Remix by the Liber Null Berlin founder Unhuman .

It is not without reason that the Ep title is inspired by "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1798), a tale about a sea voyage with no return because of the uncontrollable power of nature and the misfortunes caused by the killing of an Albatros.
The poem’s atmosphere too is connected with the eerie depictions and the deforming imagery of e s p e r p e n t o.

Idlestates is a project from Ethan Anderson and Vladimir Toumantsev which launched as a podcast series in 2019. Based in Scotland they look to bring a new element to the already potent Scottish electronic music scene with a string of cassette releases in 2020. Their first compilation, No Portions Volume 1, features the artists; Nghtly, Bad Faith Actor, Harvest of Sorrow, Ludgate Squatter, Black Dahlia, ZAAK, JGB, Swaerm, Puck and Maniaque Nocturne.

The 10 Artists VA moves through Electro-EBM spectrum focusing its sound in a realm of harsh, industrialism and post punk elements. 

Puck, an alias of label head Ethan Anderson, pieces together elements of slow burning downtempo style electro along with haunting vocals on the track ‘Bogus’.
