Rapidly becoming a truly iconic series, we at The Fat! Club are proud to present the tenth edition in our hugely celebrated free EP series, shining a light on some of the most promising new underground talent around at the moment.
West Midlands trio blckshdw flip Sampha into the next dimension and Sheffield’s Utah get knee-deep in the swamp. We also have a gorgeous re-interpretation of Erikah Badou’s classic On and On from Nomis; then for the house heads there’s the skippy percussion of Latcha and the faultless grooves of Spike O’Connell. Perfik!

This historic commitment to UK underground music and culture has seen Chew The Fat! host arenas at festivals across the UK and Europe, monthly parties around the globe and seven consecutive summer residencies at We Love… Sundays, at the world famous Space in Ibiza.

Hailing from the hedonistic mecca of Maidstone, Spike O’Connell is another promising young act we’ve been keeping tabs on in the vibrant Kent scene of late. Touching on elements of Chicago here, but with an unmistakeably UK groove, Never Hold Me Down will get any party started right!

After a short hiatus The Fat! Club returns with EP012 and our first free offering of 2014. Last time around we were treated to some awesome music from Low Steppa and Catchment, which was undoubtedly our most popular free EP to date.
This time around we have some awesome new producers to showcase, more prime examples of the abundance of underground talent around at the moment in the UK.

First up we have a free track from newcomer Lokate who has been causing a huge stir with his track 'Beat Junkie', via Black Butter Records' 'Spread Love Vol. 3' compilation. Here he drops MELT, which was recently featured by Sub Soul.
Next up we welcome back Taneli to The Fat! Club, who since putting out his gorgeous 'You're The One' via EP002 back in February last year, has gone on to release the wicked 'You [U] EP' via Transmission Audio and be asked to remix CHVRCHES.
 
We have a stirring techno number from Dharma, a producer we're tipping for big things over the next few years.
French newcomers Bogerlige treat us to a soulful 90s house number and Bristolian man Barny Rubble hits us with some Rustie vibes on his frisky number, Umatic, which is currently being supported by DJ EZ. Wicked vibes.

We were first introduced to the captivating sounds of the Sheffield based producer known as Simba, through Skream’s weekly Radio 1 show, after he premiered this EPs standout track Bejewelled, back in August. Since then, we’ve been working closely with the illusive Yorkshire-man to craft and hone his sound. The result is his four track debut for Fat! Records and our first original release of 2014.

It really is all about the top lines on Bejewelled. It’s becoming rarer and rarer these days to find such a simple example of back-to-basics club music that before anything else, simply puts a smile on your face. Bejewelled does just that. And more. It’s no nonsense fun and the true essence of what Fat! Records has always been about. Wicked vibes!

Second track Don’t Look recently got the thumbs up from Shadow Child, and not hard to see why. Simba’s genius percussive elements really nod to the likes of Justin Martin and Nick Monaco from the dirtybird camp.
Stepping up the pace on next track I’m Tired, straddling a seriously contagious groove and yet another slant in Simba’s arsenal.

Also receiving heavy support from Skream is the EPs closing track Resonant. Simba really turning up the energy in the final throws with a stomping drum track.
An impressive debut from newcomer Simba here. We welcome him to the Fat! Records family and look forward to watching him grow as a producer over the next few years. You should too!

Next up on Concrete Music Records for 2014 is an EP from Jae B entitled I Believe. Previously releasing on petFood as well as Concrete Music Records. Jae B is known for his deeper influences with big bass lines. 

This EP does not disappoint. The lead track ‘I believe’ is definitely a track that will make an impact on the dance floor, with its warm sub bass and classic chords. The moving gated vocals are both chilling and hypnotic, all held together with chugging percussion keeping things interesting. 
The second track entitled ‘I Dream’ leans closer to the garage side of house. Driven with organ chords, doubled up with another synth later on in the track, adding warmth to it. Not to mention the haunting vocals, echoing throughout the track. 
The EP is closed off with the third track ‘Changing Lanes’ which also is showing garage influences. Its dominated with chiming organ stabs and a big 808 kick style bass line, with a dubby, muted vocal which adds groove.

Born and raised in the city of London, Jae B became interested in early underground music and culture from an early age. With evocative and emotive productions showcasing a stripped back, classic feel, Jae B’s sounds are a throwback to the lost generation of groove​-maker​s.
 
His debut EP on PetFood peaked high on the Beatport chart with support coming from the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Shadow Child, Leftwing & Kody and more. To add testimony to the groove maker’s debut release Nic Fanciulli discovered a hidden Gem from the EP entitled ‘Vibe’ and secured it on his Balance 021 series.

Maya Jane Coles heavily supported ‘Perfect Match’ throughout the release, charting & showcasing the track amongst her sets, ensuring the deep sounds of the London based producer was known to dance floors globally.
 
With an infectious sound that draws on swinging hi hats, low slung synths and masterly crafted baselines, and by joining the dots between the past and the present, Jae B works closely with PetFood Records (US) and Concrete Music (UK) label crews, releasing some of his best known work with them and spinning at the label nights at their London and Miami homes.
 
Despite Jae B production, he’s currently tearing it up on the underground circuit with festival performances and shaking up some of the best venues in London with the deeper sounds of House.
