Is there a relationship between (being at) ease and dis-ease?
The question poses itself during a period of intense stress. One occurrence after another leading to a prolonged tensing of the body. Perhaps the shoulders and arms are tight, the forehead scrunched, the stomach held in. Perhaps its elsewhere or all over whatever the case what can help, what can elevate the tension and introduce a feeling of ease?
As I sit at my desk, it comes to mind that certain tracks, that are deep, drawn out like long in and out breaths cause a relaxing of the body…a releasing of tension and self resulting in a sinking deeper into one’s body, one’s pocket, one’s home, one’s church and a feeling of ease…being at ease,
True ease for me feels joyous and so, as I journey through the drawn out tracks, conscious of breath and the act of breathing, a physical relaxation followed by a psychological relaxation ensues and glimmers of joy begins to seep through. This is ease…my body and self loves this ease. I am at ease for now.

Collaborations are formed any which way. It could be an accidental night of creative bliss that brings two artists into alliance or even an unforeseen emergency. For us it was a slow ride of chance musical encounters that formed the Honey beehive. One of the most magical artistic bonds though comes from another place, the unifying element of romance. People are often scared to call it as it is for fear it will stigmatize the art-form, but the masses can't get enough of a creative power-couple. Honey can't get enough either, and we jumped at the chance to book a DJ-duo who calls for one king size bed in their rider. That said, we aren't one for cheap gimmicks (ok that might be a white lie), the spark of a good collaboration or b2b is hard to fake. So it might have taken us a second to warm up to the idea that Lovefingers & Heidi Lawden were as good a DJ pair as they are solo acts. That being said, a couple of months ago we got the pleasure of witnessing them rock L.A. dancers in a DTLA warehouse... it was absolute next-level.

So how sweet it is that we get to present to you the FIRST studio mix the duo has presented together. A two hour long journey inspired by what these two think will make Honey Soundsystem fans move to, including more than a few deep crate pulls, a signature element of their sets.

Over the past few weeks we’ve become content again in the fact that a familiar face is appearing in Jæger’s booth. Olefonken is back ladies and gentlemen and after a short stint in London, during which time he released the amazing Quaaludes EP, he is back at Jæger assuming his residency amongst Celius, Oskar Pask and Ricky Late. To mark his return Ivaylo pushed him into the booth for the Æ mix and boy was it a welcomed sound. Olefonken’s charismatic diversity in the booth shines through yet again, calling on elements of Funk, Disco, House and Afrobeat, all tied together with the DJ’s distinguished ability to find a clear path from the past to the present. There’s a quirky charm to the personality behind the music and his selections, something universal that he expresses here through swing beats and beguiling melodies that conspire around low slung tempos for this particular mix. It’s a mix as easy as a Sunday morning… or a Wednesday afternoon and it will certainly keep us in good company until the next Æ mix comes comes to town.

Living beyond the immediate and documenting Jaeger’s sound, the Jaeger Mix series is a club night and a recorded mix series. Ivaylo programmes a journey into the deepest recesses of club music and beyond with selected guests, a Kodak moment in time of club music in Oslo.
