গরু, খাসি ও মুরগির মতো মাংসের বাজারে দখল নিতে পারে উটপাখিও। এ বিষয়ে গবেষণা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে ঢাকার সাভারের বাংলাদেশ প্রাণিসম্পদ গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট (বিএলআরআইএ)।প্রাণিবিজ্ঞানীরা বলছেন, গবেষণার মাধ্যমে বাণিজ্যিক খামারে উটপাখি পালনে সম্ভাবনাময় ও ইতিবাচক ফলাফল পাওয়া গেছে। এখন মাঠ পর্যায়ে উটপাখি পালন সম্প্রসারণের অপেক্ষা। ধর্মীয় দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকেও হালাল উটপাখির মাংস। এ কারণে আমিষের চাহিদা পূরণে এ পাখি পালন সারা দেশে ছড়িয়ে দিতে চান তারা।
