Matthew Philpott-Jones, better known as DMVU, is an American dubstep producer and DJ based out of Denver. He is known for his songs "Bloccd", "The Acid is 2 Loud", and "Construction Yaper."

His musical influences are rooted in hip-hop and soul music with artists like Madlib, Dilla, Sam Cooke and Sarah Vaughn as well as dubstep producers Mala, Kahn and Skream. Weirdness plays a substanial role in DMVU's image and music and some of his weird heroes include Tom Waits, Sun Ra, Aphex Twin, and David Lynch

This month on Reform Radio, joining Jah-Tek, Melbourne based DJ Simbie delivers an hour long guest mix grounded in bass heavy sound and system ready energy. With dubstep at the centre, her selections move through footwork, jungle, drum & bass and beyond, shaped by a decade in Sydney’s warehouse scene and a long standing connection to low frequency music.

Now based in Melbourne, Simbie launched Gloam Music in 2024 - a platform for events and collaborations centred on sound system culture and forward thinking bass. She’s played clubs and festivals across Australia and recently in Japan, building a reputation for tightly curated selections that lean into darker textures and broken rhythms.

It's been a little minute.. but.. we're back!

Here's our set from Esoteric 2020!
Where we closed the Snake Pit stage on the Friday night.

The crowd response was amazing!

Special thanks to all the snake pit crew, our bad idea factory crew on lights, VJ's (A Comic Book Villain and Cymascopic), all the DJ's and performers and Sub Temple Sound for running such a sick stage.

This was the last festival set we did before the Quarantine lockdown (and was a great one!)

Lotsa double drops and fast mixes (about 40 tracks in an hour) featuring our favourite bangers atm.

Hopefully this will get your bodies moving around or entertain your ears while you're stuck inside! I know a few of you have been hanging out for this one.

BIG FUCKING ROBOTS @ Esoteric Festival 2020

"Thirteen, hailing from the Netherlands, is the latest artist to provide a uniquely deep sound on New Zealand based imprint, Iron Shirt Recordings. Judging by the title, 3.13 am, one could expect a release that brings listeners to the darkest of depths. The title track wastes no time delivering this vibe, as it immediately thrusts listeners into a ‘middle of the night’ mindset with a menacing atmosphere that would not be out of place in a horror film, before dropping a heavy-stepping beat accompanied by carnal percussion that is sure to move dance floors. The Illuminated follow up with a minimal take on 3.13 am. Sparse, delay driven rhythms flow above the weighty sub movement and spacious atmosphere, creating a perfect percussive groove that grows to resemble the original in style throughout its techy second drop. Next up is Enigma, which escalates quickly from eerie soundscape into a heavy production driven by distorted bass and a seething snare. These elements are given room to breathe and develop throughout as they are teased by sections of stripped down pressure, which add further anticipation to this already tense tune. Things To Come wraps up the EP with a futuristic meditation. A heavy, metallic snare keeps listeners from losing themselves within the gigantic, pulsing sub-line below. Fleeting reverberations and percussive elements escape this abyss, creating an organic atmosphere that puts a well-rounded stamp on this release.
