French techno ringleader Antigone returns to the fray with "We Are The Soldiers", a dark and brooding two track EP set for release on his very own imprint No Pain No Gain. Over five years’ experience holding down the fort with a residency at Concrete Club in Paris has undoubtedly graced Antigone with the ability to create truly direct and energy focused techno. The raw industrial fever that imbues his tracks has been shaped over countless years of dancefloor exposure, this international luminary has been met with warm reception from industry figureheads and up and comers alike. He has previously commissioned remixes for the legendary Slam, and Detroit icon Carl Craig. Antigone has also released original tracks with the likes of Nina Kraviz and Amelie Lens on their respective imprints.

The EP’s title track “We Are Soldiers” thunders into action with maniacal intent, the blistering rumble of sawtooth synths and nosebleed kick drums bursts through the mix with unrelenting energy. The warlike vocal chant stomps through the arrangement, constantly supplying the track with an impending feeling of urgency and pressurization. The sheer power behind Antigone’s drum work is truly a spectacle to behold, the machine-like clatter of hi-hats drives endlessly atop the thumping low-end impacts.

Harvey McKay steps up for his first EP on Second State with 3 tracks of high rolling techno in ‘Oberon EP’. 

Glasgow’s Harvey McKay adds Second State to his already brimming back catalog with ‘Midnight’ EP, featuring 3 driving and grooving cuts. A hard-hitter in Scotland’s techno scene, Harvey regularly appears at international hotspots including Space Ibiza, Awakenings and fabric, to name a few. 

The opening track ‘Midnight’ is high-spirited yet dark and energetic, creating a more stripped back style of McKay production. A booming reverberating kick dances with scattered hi-hats and a low slung bouncing synth to create a deep & dusky atmosphere. Ascending keys keep the tension tight and high along with solitary stabs that whine and wring out over the main groove. 

‘Oberon’ begins with a dappled kick and solitary hi-hat layered upon minimal pads which are soon buried by a hypnotic, marching churn and percussive wails. These elements are gradually bound together to create the base of the track, with intermittent breakdowns that allow the pads and wails to break through and add depth. As the track develops, the major notes intensify and are brought to the forefront with a cyclic sample that's teased out, but never allowed to fully burst through the chaos. 

McKay rounds up with a relentless piece of techno in ‘Elves Playground’. A revolving metallic texture twirls over the booming kick to create a playful element in this cut before a deep and brooding drone takes control. As the devilish track progresses, the buzzing drone is toned down and injected back with ferocious vigor each time. A driving and textured production with clever minimal rave elements that are guaranteed to get you moving.

A household name to most European club music aficionados, Hermeth has always been Brainwaves’ murderously effective trojan horse, and it seems that the gates are opening for the consortium’s most deadly member to infuse havoc and confusion into European nightlife.

Perhaps the most aggressive of the Brainwaves clan, Hermeth is a truly bizarre specimen with an unrivalled talent and a deep understanding of the intricacies of producing booty-shaking, face-melting, club killers. Quite easily recognisable due to his humanoid form, he has a habit of hiding his face under an old t-shirt to hide his hideous acid scars, memories of a not-so-distant past life of experimentation with mind- and body-altering substances from his home planet Methyl Alpha 303-6.

Unaffected and quite unaware of the concept of social distancing, Hermeth has spent the past couple of years in his dark cellar with our close associate and unpredictable alien friend Brian, whose bizarrely successful OnlyFans page has financed the pair’s substance abuse and provided them with a regular income, a new fixture to Hermeth’s life, and a definite improvement.

We are therefore extremely pleased to present the following tracks, written in the short flashes of genius that appear between long psychoactive and psychedelic benders in a dark and humid place with an extremely untrustworthy but apparently quite financially stable companion. As usual Hermeth does not disappoint. In the absence of any form of maturity of character, he seems to be reaching a certain maturity in his music that promises even greater things to come.
