An Expression of Harmony

Jalal Akel Jr., also known as Jah-Layal, is a multi-faceted artist—musician, creator, performer, and artivist—born and raised in Jerusalem. Of Palestinian heritage, with roots in Lifta, Jalal discovered his artistic passion early, starting with painting at age 10 and receiving his first classical guitar at 11. Growing up immersed in the arts, he has recently concentrated on music, driven by his belief in its profound healing power. His compositions blend intricate rhythms and soulful melodies, reflecting a deep connection to his heritage and a commitment to emotional and authentic expression.

His first experimental Jazz Piano album 'Origin' explores his ancestral roots during his re-homing experience in 2021.
