Aunque todo este clarito no cierres tu corazón. 
Viene la noche al ratito y podes precisar el farol. 

Solo soy un gurisito cantando los mantras del cosmos, 
gritos del cielo y la tierra , silencios de siglos bien hondos. 

Sonidos que rajan la tierra como un gran río sideral. 
Siembra de llantos y risas que un día se han de cosechar. 

No siempre esta lindo el camino, andando aprendí a tropezar. 
Dicha de caer descubriendo el suelo que me enseño a soñar. 

Solo soy un gurisito cantando los mantras del cosmos.

This came together very quickly, and it had to because I don't have any time this weekend.  

I downloaded and edited the samples, loaded them into my iPad to Samplr, doubled them up on the interface, and pitch shifted everything around until I got a backing track I liked.  

The voice sample was pitch-shifted down 3 semitones so that "she" became a "he".  The words were manipulated in real time.

It's kind of a "Boards of Canada or The Orb" meets "late-period Scott Walker's weird scratchy backing tracks".  Huzzah!

Processed the 3 audio files with FX like flanger, grain delay and heavy reverb from a NI Reaktor ensemble. Plus sample cutting & sequencing from drumk2 (k-devices).

nystada - Mantra (disquiet0124-deriveandthrive)

Oddly perky smears & loops; i think there's an implication of a 'song' here. 

My main focus/fixation was the agitated thump of the sped-up loop from Erissoma’s “The miracle in the human brain" which i appear to be unable to tire of over the course of four minutes. Sections of Kayaka’s “O” were smeared through various granular delays until they felt like they made sense with the loop, it's edge removed as it were. I vaugley regret that all i did with D’Incise’s “Graphein" was create a sustained crackle but obviously not enough to actually do anything about it.

El 3 de Mayo de 2014, Raras Músicas viajó a Barcelona para presentar una sesión en el Antic Forn de Vallcarca. Disquiet Junto Project 0066: Communing with Nofi 

This track is a posthumous collaboration with Jeffrey Melton, aka Nofi, who passed away on March 30, 2013. It was recorded live in April 2013 atop a June 2012 Melton live recording.

We were instructed to take an excerpt from one of Jeffrey's live recordings, listen to it a few times and then play live along to it and record the result.

While listening to it, I decided to record six instances directly into the Samplr app. I prepared each recording in different ways, allowing for further live tweaking later. I then recorded myself play along to the excerpt chosen.

Jeffrey may be gone, but his music will live on... and he is now forever nofi (in his own words: "a state of being-without-boundaries (i.e. boundless, stateless)."
