Khayangan (Original mix)

We wrote this song over the last while. Its not exactly a happy tune but I think its relevant to what we are all going through in the run up to Fridays referendum.   On June 24 1973 a gay bar in New Orleans was torched on the busiest night of the week. 32 people died in the fire. People jumped from the windows, couples were found wrapped in each others arms, burned alive.  The No campaign talk about being bullied but they havent lived with this sort of persecution and oppression. This song is for the great and the good who have fought for equality for the LGBTQ community. The ones who didnt make it, all the queer kids who were bullied to the point they couldnt fight any more.Jamey Rodemeyer. Haylee Fentress and Paige Moravetz. Its for the hair fairies of the compton cafeteria, and the queens of Stonewall. For Matthew Shepard. Our collected history is littered with bodies, and its important to remember our Queer history as we step into a new era. This is my protest song.

A collection of storysongs that borrows musical threads from the past and weaves them on a loom of contemporary cool. The songs avoid confessional cliché and instead sound like the lost pages of a film noir script populated by beautiful losers, gun slingers and after hours dancing marionettes. Jaime's vocals move with ease from smoke curled B movie diva to 70's glitter ball gigolo by way of New Wave's lipstick traces. An instrument of silk and steel. Like Waits and Mc Gowan before him, he has that knack of writing fresh songs that seem to have forever haunted the cannon of song. In TOY he has taken something old, something new, something borrowed 'n blue and created something seductively unique.
