Seattle's Uniting Souls Music have impressed me greatly with their last few releases. It's a label which doesn't fall into the trap of releasing safe, generic tracks like so many others these days, and this policy really makes it stand out from the crowd. The latest release is certainly no exception, featuring a spiritual call to the dancefloor from veteran DJ and producer Adnan Sharif, as well as remixes by Pezzner & Michael Manahan. Musically, the package is perfectly balanced.
 
The original version is a completely unique tune; dark, delicate and soulful in equal measure, with a gorgeous vocal drop from Light Searcher. Pezzner's remix meanwhile is nothing less than a deep house dancefloor behemoth, with all the darkness, twists, turns and squelches we've come to expect from him. Finally, Michael Manahan's version takes on a much lighter mood and a real hypnotic sense of musicality, making it ideal for the terrace. A fantastic EP overall, highly recommended.

WeR1 - Pezzner remix

Catalognumber 23 – what else is to say? While we’re feeling the spirit of William S. Burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &ME went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category ‘dance track’ for this one.
The meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you’ll find on this A-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. The way he’s kneading the lower frequencies, how he’s channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. Good vocal-selection, for that matter! Then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season.
“Locust” on B comes in with some smoothly looped E-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. But then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up that’s ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. Two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. Or differently put: a flawless double-A-side.

After 10 years of doing a Friday night party at Burning Man, Honey Soundsystem decided to end it all with a bang. Normally a renegade rave happening inside the city at the Comfort & Joy camp, Honey Dusted X took to the inner playa and did a final trip out in the open. Climbing aboard the recklessly packed BAAAHS art car, Jennifer Cardini took to the decks at Midnight (a champagne toast hosted by Tickled Mink happening simultaneous around the dancefloor). A more friendly departure then the razor sharp techno set she played two nights before on the Mayan Warrior, Cardini took gay burner revelers to town with a cool blend of house, disco, and thumpers. The vibes were thick and by the time "Sueno Latino" started fading into the speakers there wasn't a queen nearby that wasn't asking who the hell just took them to church.

Unsere Nummer 94 kommt diese Woche von einem ganz besonderen und eigenwilligen Künstler, der mit seinen Sets stets für die ganz entspannten Momente im Leben sorgt. Dabei geht es ihm nicht nur um sich selbst...
Die Rede ist von Paco, der für die meisten unter dem Namen Paco Risikogruppe' bekannt sein dürfte. 
Dass es sich bei dem ausgefallenen Namen eigentlich um ein langjähriges Züricher Veranstaltungs- und Blog-Projekt handelt, dürften dagegen nur Wenige wissen. 

In den letzten 10 Jahren hat die Risikogruppe nämlich schon so einiges bewegt. Unter anderem organisierten sie Labelnächte für Eve&Rave, den Nachtschatten Verlag und waren Teil des 'Tracks Festivals' in Basel. Zusammen mit den Audioasylanten luden sie auch schon vermehrt in den bekannten Züricher Club Friedas Büxe zum Tanz ein.

Neben den Veranstaltungen präsentiert Paco sogar schon seit 2008 verschiedene Mixe und Live-Sets von Künstlern auf seinen Risikogruppe Blogs: WordPress & Facebook.

Seine eigene Podcast-Serie sind für viele internationale Musikliebhaber bereits zum Geheimtipp geworden. Der regelmäßige Support auf kraftfuttermischwerk – eines der grössten deutschen Blogs – steht exemplarisch für die Resonanz seiner eigenwilligen Podcast-Serie. Temporeduziert rumpeln sie über verschiedene elektronische Genres hinweg. Und so entstand auch sein eigenes 'Valium House', dem er bis heute treu geblieben ist.

Seine Hingabe zum 'Langsamen' ist tatsächlich in jedem seiner Sets zu hören. Dazu reicht einzig schon ein kurzer Blick auf die immer wieder sehr spezielle Tracklist, welche stets den ein oder anderen Geheimfavoriten in sich trägt. Und obwohl er fast immer auf aktuelle Nummern verzichtet, sind seine Aufnahmen dennoch erfrischend und zeitlos zugleich. Ein Prädikat welches nur ganz Wenige tragen. 
Dazu bringt er in jedes seiner Sets eine ganz spezielle ,individuelle, musikalische Note ein, dass sich vor allem mit dem Gefühl der Anspannung und Entspannung erklären lässt. Und ganz egal ob wahrnehmbar melodisch, 'toxisch' verträumt, kindlich spielerisch oder unheimlich dunkel, stets bietet er dem Zuhörer auch Raum das Unbewusste zu erkunden: Gedanken zu vereinen, Gefühle zu reinigen oder einfach nur den Geist und den Körper baumeln zu lassen.
Ganz egal was du auch vorhast. Eine Reise die sich immer wieder lohnt!

Umso mehr freut es uns, dass wir Paco für unsere Reihe gewinnen konnten. Dass er sich wieder einmal mit seinem ganz ausgefallenen Sonntags-After-Set übertroffen hat, versteht sich fast schon von selbst. Wir sind einfach nur stolz auf diesen knapp zwei stündigen Leckerbissen aus dem Reich des Valium-House.
Jetzt aber genug der Worte.
Musik ein, Welt aus.

At his second apparition on the main party of Mareh's year, Mareh NYE, the deejay and producer, Joakim, gave for our crew one of the most incredible experiences of "electronic world music"! Tripping through sounds full of latin percussion and oriental stamps he hypnotised the dance floor till the first sunrise of the year. 10 Years ago I was invited to play on this bus called Robot Heart by my good friend Swamy at Burning Man.  We were on the bus and I remember it would continuously break down but we didn't care because we were a bunch of friends doing this for the love of music and we had no idea this bus would become the magical Robot Heart bus that we all have come to love the past ten years.  Every year my set at Robot Heart has become one of  the most integral parts of my journey at Burning Man.  This is my gift to the playa and to each one of you and it comes straight from my heart.  We come to Burning Man to search about humanity and love and to be good to others around us and the bus helps us deliver this message through our music. Thank you Robot Heart, Geo, Swamy, Robert, Benjamin and everyone on that bus that puts so much effort throughout the year to make sure that bus brings so much love to our community!

Each and every time I’ve played music at Burning man I felt privileged to do so. Its a truly special place full of truly special people.Sunrise. Sunset. Smiles. Tears of pure joy. 

There, i’m never one. I’m many. Connected. Connected to everything and everyone. One of the threads connecting me is music. Over the years the music has become a time machine that’s marked magical moments on my journey.  To hear it again allows me to travel back in time to those moments.
