One of New York’s finest in the mix.

Fred P has been holding it down for the Big Apple’s house scene for over a decade, originally under the name Black Jazz Consortium but also as Fred P and a series of other aliases (among them Anomaly and FP197). Early press around Fred tied him in with a revival of sorts in the New York house community, but although there’s clear links – both musically and personally – to the likes of Jus Ed and DJ Qu, there’s a subtle virtuosity and eccentricity to Fred’s records that makes him his own man, even at their most simple. It’s telling that he’s not content to release singles: between Fred P and Black Jazz Consortium he’s released five albums since 2007, most recently working with Tokyo label Mule Musiq on his fifth, simply titled 5.

Fred’s FACT mix was recorded at Berlin’s Dark Flow studios. “I used two Technics 1200s and one CDJ for the last track, and a Pioneer mixer and effects module,” he tells us. “There was no method really, just weeks of pulling records to find the right ones that capture a particular vibe. I hope everyone enjoys this mix as much as I enjoyed putting it together. It’s not perfect but it’s perfect in its imperfection thus making it timeless. Peace, love and respect.”

Church is back in action with their second various artists compilation featuing brand new productions from DJ Aakmael, Aquarium, Laurence Guy & Debukas. Church has definitely been a label to watch lately after they released one of the best selling records of the year from Mall Grab but we've also been keeping an eye on another artist from the label who's been making music for a long time but only recently started to get the attention he deserves. Laurence Guy has recently dropped some great solo EP's on Church and Rose Records and contributed to compilations and split EP's on CinCin and Outplay but his latest addition to Churches Volumes 002 has the entire Phonica crew tapping our feet and nodding our heads in approval! It's strength lies in its subtlety, 'Wish I Knew' is a stripped back and piece of House music which effortlessly plays with tension and release. The record begins with the "Fear of Depths". An al./ay of field recordings forms the palette used for the creation of this piece. There is a truly organic feel in this track; an intellectual deepness and an overall positivity, which make "Fear of Depths" a unique experience for the listener. The afore-mentioned values find themselves married to a driving rhythm and the outcome is a journey that every electronic music lover should take. 

"Bright Young Things" follows. The track maintains the principles of the A Side but with a dancefloor twist A more driving beat accompanies the organic textures this time, all together meeting with an exceptional synth work to offer us this exceptional dancefloor gem. 

Last but not least comes "The Jungle". Neferiel actually manages to take us deep into the jungle through this composition. A well-crafted tribe jam, elevated by electronica elements, with certain Nicolas Jaar influences, that reveals the most mature side of the composer.

As always Kling Klong gives space for new artists and supports upcoming talents. This time Martin Eyerer & Rainer Weichhold had no doubts signing this debut release from Stuttgart's dj/producer Ninetoes as 'Finder' is obviously a massive stand-out track which has the words 'summer hit' written all over it. So it was just easy to convince Leon and Re-UP from Italy to do the remixes and help to make this release even more oustanding.
