"You can get deeply lost in the darkness if you let yourself merge with it and not fight it.” With this statement, Denise Rabe vividly encapsulates her musical philosophy. As this episode of DYSTOPIA exhibits, her sound is less a musical form than a collection of sounds generating a tense, haunting atmosphere. Rabe's methods and ideas show with total clarity how darkness, what our society incorrectly perceives as negative, is in fact an opening onto a radically liberated world of abstract forces. In this episode I seek to define the meaning of darkness in techno and Denise also shares her thoughts with us about Berghain, the role of gender within the techno scene, how her personal philosophy is expressed through her music, as well as the fortuitous synergy between her name and the spirit of her music. Right on cue to support the release of his newest EP on SK_eleven, here comes Manchester via Berlin's own Setaoc Mass with a banger of a mix to break June in proper, pedal to the metal. Exponent of a sound both intrinsically rugged yet layered to mind-altering effect, the British producer has been dishing out unstoppable slices of hi-velocity techno laced with a signature stripped-back, psychedelic edge. This new RYC podcast doesn’t veer off from such a direction and we’re graced with a two-hour mind trip boasting both bass-driven warehouse impact and an elegantly-woven tapestry of abrasive grooves, leaning by turn towards atmospheric elation and on other occasions pushing in the direction of utter fibrous, steel-coated industrial pound. WELTRO’s sets are crafted to tell a story - genre-spanning, immersive, and always evolving. As co-founder of the event series fluentique and TAL, he has helped shape local club culture from behind the decks and beyond.

In 2023, he teamed up with Leskā to form the DJ duo HADAS, earning a residency at Luna Club and continuing to push his sound into new territory.

Deep x Heights 42 - Petra Yelda

The series are back after some much needed vacay and next one up is Petra Yelda, an interersting artist who we got familiar with in Gothenburg just some time ago. 
In a dark and sweaty warehouse we were lucky to catch her playing, she gave us this knockout closing set, the one where you cannat stop danceing not even for toilet breaky. She created this magical, explosive vibe and the closing included everything one wish for; the selection of tracks, flow and dynamic mixing and the connection with the floor, it was gold!
We are therefore very happy and proud to present her mix in the series!

Bio:
Petra Yelda is a Swedish techno DJ and producer with roots from Middle East. By experiencing dancefloors across Europe, she quickly grew a deeper music interest. With a distinctive style that blends driving hypnotic rhythms, Petra has earned respect locally and has made a name for herself within the underground scene in Gothenburg.

Her artistic journey began as a DJ in underground clubs in Gothenburg, where she co-founded collectives such as Nycto and later Xtnd’d/Razor.

This year has led her to take further steps in Europe by playing in Denmark, Germany and Italy. She has landed a residency at the respected record label OECUS and is also resident for Gothenburg collective STRECK.
